Here are a few vidcaps from a German TV show about collectors this episode from 1991 shows a plastic rainwear collector.
Some of his vintage garments are worn by a couple of nice ladies and men even the female presenter is wearing a purple plastic raincoat.

Re: Rainwear collector
Wow, what a show!! I guess many of us would love to see the video footage.
Does anyone remember that back in the 90's in the UK Noel Edmunds did a few shows about collectors and one featured I think four women who collected PVC macs from the sixties era? Sadly I can't remember what the show was called?

The presenter in the purple looks very appealing !
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)
Re: Rainwear collector
I agree that German show looked great. Before I saw the other posts I was remembering the Noel Edmunds show. I saw a preview in a TV mag & was really excited to see it. I taped it but was slightly disappointed as I thought there would be a lot more macs on show. They were obviously not into the rainwear scene but just wanted to be different. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised but there was so little rainwear around especially on TV.

Hi Regenhoedje,
thats funny, I know this man, his name is Sebastian. He lived some blocks away from me in Berlin in a district called Schoeneberg. We were in contact from 88 -92 or so...long time ago. He had a big 4 Room flat, completely full with racks with macs and capes from the 30th/ 40th till today made of pvc and kind of plastic used in former times. He owned hundreds of absolute fantastic rarity's. I think at this time he had about 2800 items. All rooms, all space full of racks with narrow path between the racks, some in two levels. His collection was much bigger than huge collection of Henry at his roof in Norway (that was the second biggest I ever saw
It was a hype in the early 90th. I think it started with "offener Kanal" one of the first private TV channel, a friend of a friend worked there and they were keen all the time to find extraordinary or strange things or people they can report about. He invited me and a couple of friends and to a talk-show about our BDSM-life (love)-style, leather and rubber fetish (I'm sure it was the first broadcast about things like that in Germany). After the show the TV-people were open minded and curious, we had a beer and I told them that I for example have a special fetish... raincoats... and after the second beer I talked about Sebastian and his fetish and his collection.
Some month later they visited him, filmed in his flat and interviewed him. I think the next one was Peter Czernich with nice Models and complete photo equipment who shot many photos with the Models and some rarity raincoats. As far as I remember this photo was from this shot:

Short time later he was invited to an radio- interview and I think the next was the invitation to this talk show you have the vidcaps above.
I don't remember the TV chanel, but it was one of the 5 biggest.
Do you have a copy of this talk-show as VHS video f.e.?
Best Regards from Bandilo from Berlin

Re: Rainwear collector
Yes you're right it's Sebastian T. from Berlin, after that TV show I made contact with him which lasted for about a year during that time we exchanged plastic rainwear and photos.
Peter W. Czernich visted his home in Berlin with a female model which later became Peter's wife and made some nice photos of her while she was dressed in some of Sebastian's vintage plastic rainwear garments some of them were later published in his magazine Marquis no. 12, I have the photoset and I think they can be found if you do a Google search or try Flickr.
As for the TV show from 1991 I have it on DVD and it was quite expensive so I will not post it online maybe I will exchange it for the Noels Addicts TV episode with the ladies who collected 1960's flowery plastic raincoats or for some vintage plastic rainwear that I'm still looking for.

Re: Rainwear collector
The episode of Noels Addicts TV, was that the one that featured a few dancers dressed in B&W Mary Quant style PVC dresses, they were dancing to a 'live' band who i think was The Searchers
