Wearing PVC rainwear in public .

Post by Peter Haaswijk »

Hello,
Today it rained the whole morning and a part of the afternoon.
Because my wife didn't want to go out for shopping in the rain .I "offered" myself to go out and do some shopping for her in two shops.
The temperature was 5 C so it was not so cold to wear a thick winter coat and I decided to put on my sweater and then my PVC PUL raincoat and then as a second layer my blue PUL raincape.
I had put on my boots of course.
Outside it rained and I went on to the shops .
As I reached the first shop I put only off the cape and went inside.
Nobody reacted on the raincoat ,which is rather long.
Because the next shop was near the first one I kept the cape under my arm and went to this shop.
There was nobody in the shop and the lady asked what I wanted. She did not notice my raincoat.
I went out ,put on the cape again and walked through the shopping center.
Nobody looked at me. ;)
It was my first time I kept on my raincoat inside a shop.
Conclusion : It is only in your mind that you think people look at you and think you are "not normal " .or a fetish figure.
Most people don't think about fetishists like us ,and think perhaps "he does not like to become wet". That 's all! :)
So, gentlemen ,don'hesistate and walk in the rain as you like.

Greetings ,Peter

About time that someone got it right. Peter you're the man who decided that there was nothing wrong in what you did. The fact is that we know who we are and we assume that everybody feels as we do. But they don't so I agree that we should wear whatever feels right to us and the rest can go to hell.

Last weekend was a case in point. It had rained and rained but the lady wanted shoes so we went looking. I wore one of my single-textured mackintoshes and the lady wore her single-texture navy blue mackintosh. And there was no fuss, no upset, nothing.

The thought is in our heads or, in our case, my head but that was it.

I'd like to upload a picture of the lady with her face painted out. How do I do that?

How many people have had favourable comments or remarks made when they are wearing their rainwear in public ?

Hopefully the positive comments outnumber the negative remarks made. I have had some nice comments made in the past, nearly always by females and middle aged on the whole as they remember wearing similar raincoats in their past I think.

I have had many remarks from students - Only when wearing SBR raincoats though and nearly always Gothic types !
Especially when it is raining hard, people don't seem to care what you wear - they are only concerned with their own bussiness.

as I have said before it really is not an issue or a big deal. If you go out wearing something suitably waterproof when it is pissing down nobody takes any notice. Always remember the almost envious look from the chav lad who was soaked in his trackies in a monumental downpour while I was dry in my jeantex mac. Would be different if you went out in bright sunshine wrapped up in pvc or men wore what were clearly womens raincoats and the like but then if anybody did that they would just be asking to be singled out as kinda odd. Rainwear in the rain is not exactly strange

Well, I always wear my April Rains Bib'n'braces when I'm out with my dog, even when it's nice weather. Never got any strange views or bad comments, just some aproving coments from other poeples. And the occasional smile when my dog's paws traces are all around them.

To quote Merv above
"Rainwear in the rain is not exactly strange"
Yes once I have worne a red PVC Raincoat whilst out in the rain but that was in a park with few people around.
If you want to draw attention to yourself in public then wear bright yellow. pink etc.
And yes I have worn a bright yellow raincoat and rain trousers whilst out.

I only have yellow ones...I don't think that I've gotten any weird looks or nasty comments...I don't even think that people have looked twice at me...and it was right after a rain shower and the sun was, unfortunately back out
