A nice day

Post by Taffmac »

I had a really nice day on Wednesday. Showers had been forecast for most of the day. At about 9.30 a.m. I had to leave for a hospital appointment and as it was raining I decided I would wear my see-through plastic Jeantex Toni mac. With the mac on and buttoned up I stepped outside into the rain, put the hood up and walked to the car which was parked on the other side of the road opposite our house. If any of the neighbours were looking out at the time they must have seen me. I then drove the 10 miles to the hospital still wearing my mac, enjoying the feel of the plastic against my bare forearms as I was wearing a short sleeved shirt underneath. After parking the car I walked through the car park to the hospital entrance, again with my mac fully buttoned and the hood up. As I climbed the stairs to the 1st floor I took off my mac and carried it quite casually for anyone to see. Leaving the hospital, the mac went back on to walk to the car and drive home. A great start to the day.

In the afternoon it was time for our weekly shop with my wife and her sister. As the showers had stopped, I put my mac on the back seat while I drove to the supermarket and carried it inside and placed it over the handle of the shopping trolley in full view. As we were returning to the car we could see that It had started to rain again so the mac went on again and with the hood up I pushed the shoppling trolley through the car park to the car, loaded the shopping into the boot and drove home encased in soft see-through plastic with my wife sitting in the rear seat and her sister sitting in the front passenger seat. Needless to say, neither of them was wearing any decent rainwear.

What a pleasant day !

Wear your rainwear outdoors, it's a wonderful feeling.

It was a nice day also in Swansea yesterday.

It poured with rain along with some very heavy squally showers nearly all day so I purposely caught the bus into town instead of driving there to see who else was wearing anything remotely suitable for the conditions yesterday.

I wore a Black rollneck sweater along with some nice designer jeans, over which I had my SBR trenchcoat.

Needless to say the only raingear I saw being worn were a few totally useless very thin flower print nylon short jackets currently in fashion here in South Wales and ONLY one top shop shiny PVC raincoat in Green by a girl was was too far away to see properly !

It was a great feeling being rained on incessantly but warm and dry while others scurried about trying to stay under the narrow street sheltering that goes along the shops and is only 3 foot wide.
I sat in Waterstones looking at some books then sat in Costa coffee for a while not bothering to remove my lovely shiny rubber coat, but just undo it to sit and relax. Then a rainsoaked bus ride home and got off the bus three stops early to enjoy being rained on !
