the thing people dont seem to grasp with ebay is that you do not have to wait til the end of an auction to make a bid. All people actually need do is decide how much they are prepared to go to and put that amount in. It doesnt actually mean you will pay that much and if an item does go for more then thats the way it goes. That's the ideal solution for the seller as it gives buyers lots of time to fight it out gradually increasing their maximum bids. Sorry, but to put the other sides point across:
Put the maximum bid in that you are prepared to pay but don't commit (the second screen) until 10-15 seconds before the auction ends. You still only pay what you are prepared to pay up to your maximum, but don't give other bidders time to up their offer and make you pay more than you need to.
Works for me with a feedback score of over 400. Had some amazing bargains that way. Yes you get outbid a fair amount of times, but if you bid your maximum then you were outbid by someone who was willing to pay more.
