Black Mackintosh

Some things always amaze me.

We went to an auction a little while ago and my wife wore her Harper mackintosh we got from Weathervain.

It is in black rubberized satin and, as we walked in, a lady pronounced, "What a beautiful coat you have on."

My wife readily agreed and I beamed.

I notice whenever my wife wears her red rubberized satin trench from Rajkumar she can be sure to get at least one compliment on the coat, always from a female. Her friends from church especially seem to love how the coat looks on her, as do several of her younger cousins. Sadly thus far none of them have inquired as to where she got it. She has several good looking cousins & friends who if dressed in a rubber mac would drive me absolutely wild (for example one of her church friends is a youth minister in her mid twenties with fabulous breasts that would be accentuated nicely by one of Rajkumar's trenches, especially the yellow single texture satin or navy single texture cotton. And she loves wearing her wellies, so I always thought it would be only natural to have a rubber mac to pair them with).

I am not surprised by the above comments as both my wife and myself often receive compliments when we are wearing our black Rainmac and Weathervain PVC coats. Whilst the comments are usually by ladies some men do make comment, especially as to the suitability of our coats when it is raining.

It is a great pity that more people do not wear full length rainwear as it seems the majority prefer anoraks of some shape or form. We are of an age when you had to wait for buses or walk to the station which is not the case for the majority in today's world who live in their cars.

Well, this was a lady and so it seems that some ladies do like to see a lady properly attired. And, as I said, the rubber-lined black mackintosh is a sight to behold.

And, did I get this correctly, that rubber-lined mackintoshes seem to be liked by US based persons. I know that Bill is but not sure about dellboy. So which side of the pond are you dellboy?

yeah I don't think too many Americans ever got into rubber mackintoshes the way the Brits did, but that may be more due to a lack of availability than anything else. I remember seeing a handful of ladies' double texture rubberized cotton 3/4 length macs at Saks Fifth Avenue in the late '90s, but those were the only ones I've ever seen in an American department store in all my 45 years on this earth.

A few years ago I was visiting Chicago and one store there had rubber-lined mackintoshes but the name escapes me.

And Delboy mentioned the dreaded anorak. Dreadful garment and worn by those who are determined to get wet knees.

Ugh. Hate anoraks. Especially those gaudy multicolored ones in gore-tex or other bogus high tech "waterproof" material that really isn't waterproof. Plus none of those garments can accentuate the curves of a beautiful woman the way rubber or pvc/polyurethane can. Their only mitigating factor is that they're not paper-thin EVA or disposable plastic ponchos.
