love raincoats

Just wanted to say hi. I've read a few of the posts and some of them are quite sad but overall I think this is a lovely site. There is a lot of respect here missing from some other places. I do love pvc raincoats (that is possibly the first time I have said that out loud and it is a mark of the place that I feel I can say something like that. From pvc-u-like to rukka to pacamac to jelly coats and all the inbetweeners and over-and-abovers I will never afford. A wee memory here for anyone who cares to read. I remember as a relative youngster buying rukka raincoats from charity shops for a couple of quid, almost as if they were cast of rubbish. Now they are almost premium price on eBay! If I think back to all the rainwear I have discarded over the years in a fit of pique and denial, I am truly astonished at what I have lost. Well, those days have gone. I have started collecting again, and loving each and every single item.

I hope it is okay to say all this here. I hope I get the chance to appreciate rainwear in all its forms and thank you for letting me join.

Thank you for that, it is much appreciated. What I find completely extraordinary is the discrepancy between views and replies on virtually all posts. There are a lot of people here who love rainwear! I had no idea there were so many and feel quite ashamed I have kept so quiet about it for so long. I think I had better go and catalogue my wee collection - I'm not even sure I know exactly how many I have got (although I can bring every single one of them to mind - all unique and all beautiful in their own way). That should keep me entertained for an hour or so.

The great thing about a site like this is knowing most have a harmless attraction to rainwear and can disclose those little secrets that up to now one has been forced too keep to themselves. How the attraction started. Favourite types/styles. Favourite colour(s).
