Post by pvclovering »

I have recently ordered a unisex cagoule from PUL,in semi transparent black. Looking forward to it arriving. Does anyone have this item, and what is it like?

Yes, I have bought one. I don't think you will be disappointed. When are we ever disappointed by PUL? I don't wear it myself, it was for my girlfriend. She loves it and looks great in it. I have one in opaque shiny black that I bought some time ago (also from PUL).

I have one of these too & exactly in the color you have ordered . I agree they are just great & super smooth . Perfectly acceptable in public too , without any self- consciousness issues that you might get from more flamboyant colors - depending on your style of course !

Over the years I have bought 3 of these, all in natural see-through PVC. They are fantastic, they are so soft and smooth and, as Onslow says, they are perfectly acceptable to wear in public. I have worn mine many times when on holiday. However, they are only available in "one-size-fits all" and even that "one-size" can vary. The first two I bought looked Ok but I would have preferred either a small or medium size. The third one I bought was bigger than the first two and swamped me so I have put it back in the wrapping and it has not been worn apart from trying it on for size. I can't see me wearing it so I might put it on the "For Sale" section in case anyone is interested.

When yours arrives I would be interested to know what you think of it and whether you wear it outdoors. Also, I would like to know if the semi-transparent black is shiny on the outside as I am thinking of ordering one but I prefer the outside to be matte rather than shiny.

I hope you enjoy your cagoule when it arrives.

Thanks for comments. I am sure I will love the cagoule when it arrives hopefully in a couple of weeks. I have had rainwear in the past that felt self concious about wearing outdoors but have done so and had some good comments and admiring glances from the ladies! I think I will feel happier out and about wearing the cagoule even in dry but cloudy weather.Just hope it is a good fit. Looking forward to a road test!

The wait is over the cagoule arrived yesterday. I love the smooth feeling of the PVC certainly not disappointed!
The shine seems to be on the outside. I was out wearing it this morning and felt great wearing it. There had been some rain overnight and was hoping for rain but it was just cloudy. Will have to be patient!
I was a little self-concious wearing full length raincoats outside, but I think I will be wearing my cagoule out more often even if there is no sign of rain.It is my new favourite jacket.

Anyone who has a fetish for plastic rainwear is going to feel self-conscious when wearing anything like a plastic cagoule in public. I have been doing so for quite a few years and once you have committed yourself to wearing it, it soon feels like a natural thing to do, i.e wearing a raincoat. What's wrong with that ?

I'm nearly 70 yeas of age and have had a plastic fetish for as long as I can remember and was afraid of being discovered until, in my mid 30's, I decided that I didn't care what other people thought about me wearing plastic macs, jackets, etc., in the rain. In fact, I felt superior to others who had no rainwear and got wet when it came to rain.

I hope you wear your plastic cagoule a lot and enjoy wearing it as I have done. Thanks also for mentioning that it is shiny on the outside as I was thinking of buying a black one if it hadn't been shiny on the outside.

I have and have had a number of these in black and blue, with one yellow one.

You can ask Gary to make it shiny side in and they do. I have done that with all mine.

I miss most of all the one I had in thick dull black that PUL no longer carry, alas it got hooked on a sharp edge at work and ripped.

I always live in hope that Gary will stock the Thick Dull Black again.
