She loved my rainwear and wellies

Post by wellyboy »

Dublin is still under a heavy snowdrift. So yesterday morning I decided to take the bus to the city.
I put on my blue wellies, plastic waterproof pants and yellow reversible raincoat with my obligatory woolly hat and gloves.
I stood at the bus stop for a good 20 minutes of so and in the queue were some other similarly rainwear clad ladies. No guys in rainwear, only me.
One girl wore pink wellies and a plastic raincoat, another had navy wellies and a duffle.
On the bus I observed those passengers wearing suitable raingear and those walking on the pathways similarly attired. Lots of wellies and rainmacks. Wow.
I walked around the city, dropped into various stores.
But the best for last eh!
As I returned home I alighted a few stops before my normal one as I wanted to buy some fire logs in the Spar shop.
I was the only customer inside and there were two lovely ladies, probably in their early to mid 20s behind the counter. They saw me as I came into the shop and as I handed one of them the logs to pay for them, the other said how appropriately dressed I was. The other girl said Ilooked lovely.
The girl who made the first comment leaned over to see me full length and then came around from the counter to admire my raingear. She rubbed my yellow mack and said how nice it was and how she'd love to have one. The other girl laughingly agreed and said she regretted not wearing her wellies to work that morning.
We chatted for a few minutes before I departed for home. I said bye to both and thanked them for their compliments!!
What a lovely end to a lovely morning.
