Thanks for that, a great site and interesting to see all various types of rainwear. I loved the old SBR souwesters and mackintoshes

Re: Rain Hats
I don't think I have ever seen anyone wear one, are these rainhats popular in Scandinavian countries maybe?
Edit: now that i think about it, the mother of one of the kids in my class in primairy school had one (in yellow) which she wore on rainy days.

Re: Rain Hats
When we were in Norway a few years ago we saw a lot of sou'wester type headgear-both for sale and being worn-in navy and yellow PU material of the type also popular for rain jackets at the moment. The weather bore out the old joke.
Tourist, "Does it always rain as much as this in Bergen?"
Boy, "I'm sorry I don't know, I'm only thirteen".

Used to be able to buy genuine old style oilskins in the ships chandlers in Grimsby and Hull but those shops have all gone and, apart from possibly one in Aberdeen I don't suppose that there is a true chandlers shop left in the UK. Yes, there are yacht chandlers around bur they just seem to sell Helly Hansen. I was in Alaska earlier this year and the main lines were HH there but at least the locals wore them as regular rainwear and didn't regard them as just for boating people.
