What is your all time favourite rainwear item?

Post by Deleted User 5375 »

Over the years I have bought a fair amount of rainwear and associated lovely clothes, but of everything i have ever had, my clear plastic jacket from PUL has been my all-time favourite. What has yours been? Have you eve wanted something, but so far never been able to find or afford it?

Hi JellyMan, Like you, I've bought and sold so much rainwear, boots and gloves over the years I've lost track! Choosing an all time favourite isn't easy as there's a lot of rainwear I've loved over the years, I'd only be able to choose a top 3, the Maxden rainsuit, the Respirex transparent PVC nuclear hazmat suit and my extra tall unlined HD PVC chest waders, the waders are the only one of the three I still have, but I'm forever trawling the internet to find and rebuy the other two as I so regret selling them on. The two items I have never been able to afford are an Aquala all rubber drysuit and a full heavy rubber hazmat suit, that situation is going to change soon and I can't wait for the day I can log on to the Aquala website and place my order, I'm also on the German ebay looking for the hazmat suit!

Do wellies count? If so my first pair of Hunters, a red pair when I was 10. First time I felt super fly in wellies.

I love that souwester Miss Rachel. It reminds me of the rubber ones we had when very young. I, like Jellyman, have had numerous things over the years but my favourite is an ex navy long oilskin coat which is very glossy and still has it's original smell. Sometimes, dressed in that and wellingtons and rubber gloves lay on the bed 'enjoying myself'. Then at night when I return to bed the oilskin smell is still on my pillow. Oooooooooh!!

I have always hung my nose over a quality SBR mac but could never justify the expense. Mind you I do trawl ebay and the like in hope of finding something at a reasonable price.

LOL you brought a long forgotten memory to the surface. I had a lovely ,heavy oilskin anorak coat that had the most wonderfully odor! I actually got it in the military also. That was years ago. I eventually donated it to the poor box because it looked to military and did not fit the current styles.
