I have Royal Navy oilskins, long coats (1954 & 1956 x 2, high waisted trousers (1953) and two smocks (1953) & (1961).
All have the 'arrow & WD' mark for War Department and the dates as above.
All have that strong , almost chemical smell so distintive of oilskins and its as strong today as it was when they were new.
One long coat hangs on my hall stand and some times before going out I stick my face into it and take some big deep breaths, filling my lungs.....heaven.
My oldest gasmask is 1942.
My oldest hazmat suit is a US toilogical suit dated 1960.
Oldest Russian hazmat suit is in brown rubber and is 1972. Purchased from the Chemical Defence Agency on the Isle of Man in the 1980's. (Remember them they used to advertise in the Exchange and Mart and were a great source for Russian gear and gasmasks)
Will I ever sell it........perhaps one day when it no longer does anything for me......but God willing that's a long way off.

Agree with you KlepperGuy about the Royal Navy Oilskin macks, I have one too and always say it is the favourite of all my raingear. When able [married with wife who knows nothing of my passion] I will lie on the bed with my oilskin mack on along with wellingtons, rubber gloves and gasmask and enjoy myself. Then at night when I get into bed the smell of the oilskin still lingers on the pillow and I go to sleep in pleasure
