Liberating moment
I've always felt self conscious about wearing my pvc rainwear out in public, but about 18 months ago I plucked up courage and started to wear my long mac out. Up until now. I've always kept these excursions about 20 or more miles from home, but with the constraints imposed by the lockdown I am unable to do this. It was pissing down earlier this evening, the sort of rain that throws up spray from the roofs and the road surface. I thought"got to get out in this", and went for walk around the block in my long mac. Although the rain soon stopped I now feel liberated from my previous fear of going out in public. Still feel a bit self conscious but has anyone else had a similar experience?

Glad you had a breakthrough. I get self conscious about it too. I couldn't wear any out till I met my wife.
She very unashamedly wears all sorts rain or shine but it's easier for girls to wear shiney plastic without raising an eye.
I noticed if it's raining no one cares what you wear and there's normally an old lady to tell you you have a nice quality mac on.
As our collection grew I got more confident wearing sailing/offshore style stuff.
I have a shiney farmerrain coat I'd love to wear out but I'm a bit conscious of wearing shiny items.
Problem I have is I'm on an island not much bigger then 20 miles so it's hard not to bump in to anybody you might know and I worry about it but I'm getting better.
I really want to go on holiday and wear some shiny stuff out.

Well done for finding a woman who is agreeable to wearing shiny rainwear. Was she already into it when you met or you get her into it?

No she wasn't in to it when we met. It became part of our life as our relationship grew.Rainworshipper wrote: ↑April 30th, 2020, 5:14 am Well done for finding a woman who is agreeable to wearing shiny rainwear. Was she already into it when you met or you get her into it?

Re: Liberating moment
I presume you have harbours/landing places on your island? Go there with your wife wearing her rain suit and you wearing yours. No problem if it is the appropriate weather of course!reversiblepete wrote: ↑April 29th, 2020, 10:00 pm Glad you had a breakthrough. I get self conscious about it too.
