No black PVC macs, but a long green plastic mac belonging to the department secretary. Alas I never saw her wear it, it just hung provocatively on the coat rack. It disappeared the day she left the company. Another lady wore a shiny nylon tracksuit, the proper shiny and noisy variety of years gone by. This was very sexy because everyone else wore more formal jacket and shirt or skirt and blouse.
Once a very pretty work colleague was chatting to the department head and I overheard him ask if she was going to wear "those shiny black trousers again" to the event that evening and she laughed and said no, but after that I never saw her in quite the same way and always wished she had not declined.
Finally a girl at work used to wear shiny trousers or skirts - usually on dress-down Friday. Not the best kind of PVC, but leatherette type, still jolly nice! One day I got to sit next to her in her PVC leggings during a presentation - needless to say I don't remember what the presentation was about!

Re: PVC macs at work
There was a girl i was friendly with during my breif spell of working in an office at the Austrian Patents office.
She always wore a multicoloured regatta cagoule to work daily. Rain or shine, it would hang on the back of her chair and i often would rest my hand on it whilst we chatted at her desk. Another lady would wear a black shiney pvc jacket in on wet days, she did it on purpose to flirt with the men in a humorous way and was good fun to be around. She had a white pvc one that would make to odd appearance too.
I Ended up asking my girl friend one day where she got her regatta cagoule from as i liked the look of it on her and she told
West midlands farmers, needless to say I bought one soon after and still have it somewhere. X

oh how times have changed, not sure anyone would get away with flirting in the workplace today, even in a "humorous way". This is in my opinion a good thing, it is good to see things have moved on a bit, working in offices in 1970's and early 80's was often a bit of a "laugh" looking back it wasn't funny or right for the people on the receiving end at the time

Re: PVC macs at work
I have two experiences of work and PVC macs. The first while I was still in college, I would work in the holidays to make money to help pay the rent. This one holiday I was working in a factory and at first was in the machine shop but after a few weeks they moved me to packaging which was jam packed full of ladies of all ages, needless to say I learned very quickly about being teased for all sorts of things. There was one younger lady who would frequently wear a shiny yellow PVC Mac on days where it rained or even on days that threatened rain. It did not go unnoticed by the older ladies that I couldn’t keep my eyes of this younger lady putting on or taking off her Mac and was consequently teased which I think encouraged the Mac lady to tease me about her Mac. My second experience was a few years later when I worked in an office. One young lady there became my girlfriend and one of her good friends also worked at this company. One rainy day the friend arrived at work in a long crimson PVC trench coat which looked wonderful on her. My girlfriend thought it looked cool and sexy on her friend and found out that she had bought it at a local John Lewis’s store. My girlfriend asked if I liked her friends Mac and the outcome was my girlfriend buying an identical black version. So you can imagine my delight on a rainy day taking the two of them to a pub and not having much of an appetite for food but just happy to watch two young ladies dressed in such shiny raincoats. I married my girlfriend and her work mac was the first of many we later purchased. The quality of the Mac was superb as it remained shiny for many years after that purchase.
