A Klepper day in Newark, Notts

Post by KlepperGuy »

Well here we are looking at more Covid restrictions, more days indoors enjoying your gear whatever it may be.

Today we have had rain, not a heavy downpour, but a continuous drizzle, so I took myself off to Newark in Nottinghamshire and enjoyed a day going around the market, the book shops and the antiques places. Before setting off I had already set my stall out and decided it was going to be a Klepper day.
So I have had an enjoyable time strolling the streets and the shops in my Klepper and came home with some nice books.
We might be getting more restrictions as this dreaded virus affects us all...........but its not going to take away the pleasures of walking in the rain dressed for pleasure.

Glad to hear you are putting your Klepper to good use. Just right now, here in Notts anyway, it is the ideal temperature for wearing a Klepper in the rain. Too cold and you have to wear loads of warm clothing underneath but this week has been fabulous for this type of rainwear.

I agree that you can’t beat a good day out wearing one of your favourite macs and even better when there’s a continuous drizzle. I like the process of deciding which Mac to wear, my preference is usually one of my double textured rubber lined Weathervane macs. I like the outing to be at least 5/6 hours and Mac stays on all day and you can’t beat the smell of the wet Mac and the feeling of the slightly sweaty rubber lining..mmm such simple pleasures!

Dressed like that you would be perfectly dressed for a stroll around the castle and along the river bank.

Can you send some of that chilliness over here please. It is still in the upper 80's to lower 90's.

Pleased you enjoyed a stroll round the Castle and Riverbank
Couple of years since we've been, it the Old Barge that's a pub still there, enjoyed a couple of pints sat outside it on our last visit.

Not sure about the Old barge pub, if it was between the castle and the Lock Gates.......the answer is 'No'

unless I missed it.

Isn't that the floating bar come diner moored up by the bridge ? Or it was at one time, at the back of my mind I have an inkling that something happened to it a couple of years ago.
