Re: Wellies in school
Not all day but if it was a particularly wet or snowy day I'd rock up to school in my welly boots.

Yeap I used to wear Wellies to school if it was snowy - just seemed the most sensible thing to do in those conditions.
In Junior School our form went on a trip to a nature reserve which basically ended up with all of us getting muddy from head to toe - even now I can remember that day so vividly!!

Yes, the junior school trips! Whenever they involved wellies they were always good! We did a Year 6 Residential where we were welly booted and dirty for a good three days - my commitment was so that I got the award of Queen of Mud at the end!SEWelly wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 9:46 pm Yeap I used to wear Wellies to school if it was snowy - just seemed the most sensible thing to do in those conditions.

So that was where the Queen of Mud comes from! I went on a residential in Year 5 which was pretty muddy but I missed out the following year when it was a quagmire, the pictures from that walk made me so jealous!! I kept asking people who went what it was like to try and imagine how good it would have been!!HarlequinKing96 wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:31 pmYes, the junior school trips! Haha, you say that as if I wasn't a mud and wellies princess beforehand! God, that sounds amazing, can you describe your mud from the residential? And do you remember what wellies you had on? I already had my first red Hunters then!SEWelly wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:36 pmSo that was where the Queen of Mud comes from! I had my Green Dunlops on and whilst the mud wasn't that deep it was the kind of mud that got your boots (and the rest of you) completely covered! It also made lots of squelching sounds when you walked, and it was slightly downhill as well which made staying up right even more fun!! I do wish I had a pair of Hunters back then though...

OMG, get me into that mud! Where in the country was it? Mine was the Isle of Wight and it was particularly splashy and deep, so I was jumping recklessly into it and getting covered. Definitely beat the boys for filth, it was all over my face and under my fingernails after!SEWelly wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:45 pmAh I'm sure you've always been a mud princess!HarlequinKing96 wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:38 pmHaha, you say that as if I wasn't a mud and wellies princess beforehand! A term or so earlier we had an African Day in school and some of the girls did a welly dance! Guess which otherwise two-left footed gal was at the front!

It was near Staplehurst in Kent, I should probably try and go back and find it again at some point as I did with the muddy spot I first went too - it was even better when I went back!! Nothing like jumping around and getting proper covered!HarlequinKing96 wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:49 pmOMG, get me into that mud! Where in the country was it? Ooh, what sort of school play was this? Yeah, I was really going for it, splashing and squelching and going from pasty white girl to dark brown mud monster!! Sounds great, I'll research it and will have to go there myself! I'm such a big kid in a grown woman's body!SEWelly wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:52 pmIt was near Staplehurst in Kent, I should probably try and go back and find it again at some point as I did with the muddy spot I first went too - it was even better when I went back!! I think I was meant to be a rain deer so presumably it was a nativity play - all I can remember was that I got wear my wellies!! If you want to try somewhere else then you should head to Detling in Kent - that was one of my favorite mud spots in Kent and was the site of my original school muddy trip!!HarlequinKing96 wrote: ↑December 27th, 2020, 10:56 pm
