NOT REALLY, RUBBERISED COATS

How many times have you seen macs advertised as rubber or rubberised and then they are PU or PVC ? The latest I've seen is Liberty with their £750 "rubber" coat made of 52% polyester and 48% polyurethane. Lets take them on, these false sellers of rubber rainwear. I've e-mailed them asking what is rubber about their coat and also informing them that they are contravening the Trade Descriptions Act by describing a coat as rubber when it's not.
Anybody out there up for the fight to rid the rainwear sites of these untruths.

Yes great reply R.Ex. I'm not intending spending any money just the power of the internet to shame these interlopers. Your campaign against Pinterest is well justified as every time I google some rubber mack strand I get flooded with their misappropriated images. Good luck.

Good luck with that from what I've seen in Libertys I get the feeling they wont shame easily

Pinterest etc. would be fine if they were correctly policed and didn't allow morons to abuse them. I know I'll never make any real difference but if I can upset a few people along the way then I'll be happy

Weathevain look like these days if you want something that resembles what we of a certain generation remember as The SBR Classic, then you will have to have deep rubber pockets. They do have a well turned out product,does it smell like rubber, wish I could try one on. Maybe one day. Until then unless any member can invite me to wear one, I guess I will keep dreaming

Success at last, after four e-mails pointing out to Liberty the error of their ways. They now describe their Kassl Editions mac as an "Original Coated Trench Coat".
I notice Harrods use the term "rendered from rubber-like thick material" in their description, despite their headline "Rubber Coat" which is technically incorrect. As stated earlier it is 48% Polyurethane. At least Cordings still sell their Scottish made rubberised riding mack.

I have noticed that some sellers use the term 'vinyl' for any shiny or wet-look clothing made from polyester, nylon or PU. Of course none of these materials are vinyl, which is an alternative name for PVC- polyvinylchloride.
