Anyone know of any decent fleece-lined rainwear?

Post by swish87 »

My partner just expressed interest in trying some fleece-lined waterproofs as she "hates the cold" feel when first putting on outfits. Does anyone know of any good (preferably heavy duty, oilskins-type) brands?

I'm aware of Farmerrain's fleece lined rainsuits but just wanted to check if there was anything slightly less expensive?

Cheers, Swish

Asos were selling fleece lined thick vinyl hooded macs just before Christmas. They are very smooth and shiny in a sage green colour. Lined throughout with fleece. I bought one and use it as a dressing gown. It's lovely and warm and still has a nice feel and creeky sound. They have other fleece lined macs in other styles too.

Would any of the 1980s or 1990s style Misty Harbor brand or Totes brand rain jackets would work? Maybe the hood-less long snap front ones from Misty Harbor with the plush collar. The Misty Harbor ones were sold in a variety of PVC exterior and cotton flannel colored interior lining. Some Misty Harbor ones were even glossy shiny PVC on the outside. I typically see some on EBay when I look. The newer the coat the less likely it would be shiny. It’s something that might work assuming one comes up at auction that meets what you want for shine and color.

The Grundens clipper and brigg series have a nice cotton backing to them and both are heavy duty. I can personally vouch for Grundens clipper being able to hold up under the worst weather (on land). Unfortunately for you, Grundens gear is not very cheap but it does last a very, very long time because it is very high quality. If you are looking for something heavy duty and high quality I would get the Grundens clipper jacket and bibs. They cost about $100 a piece.

If buying used Wippette may be another brand to look for.

I believe the German brand Schmuddelwedda has a range of 3 in 1 coats, raincoats with matching fleece jackets.
