I love wearing a smock overhead cagoule with the hood drawstrings tied tight around my face and swishy /shiny raintrousers.

I think for me in early childhood days it was the look of it, when I was given a cotton backed pvc coat it was the thrill of wearing it, later I liked proofed nylon, once I reached puberty I found that it was an extra turn on if I saw a girl my own age or a young woman wearing nylon or pvc, and in more recent years I have enjoyed wearing my long pvc mac out in public( which I would not have dared to do until a couple of years ago).

Nylon cagoules for me, especially if it has a shiny coating on the inside. Love the sight, sound and smell. Love the elastic cuffs and the way the hood hangs. Love everything about them especially 70’s and 80’s ones like kway, Peter storm etc. I only have to see one and it gets me going. Also love plastic, especially plastic pants with poppers up the side and clear plastic rainwear :)

From the time I was 4 or 5 years old, I was fascinated by the shine and sensation of plastic raincoats. The more transparent the better. Wearing them in colder weather allowed them to swish, snap and crackle when you moved about and that was the final straw! Today I enjoy donning everything from clear rain jacket to a head to toe kart racing rain suit - all transparent plastic of course.

For me it is any nylon, pvc, paramo or ventile jacket or cagoule, but with a deep protective hood. The thrill of hearing heavy wind driven rain bashing down on your hood tightly fastened and with a good wired 'extension' is simply fabulous. One of the best ever was the Berghaus Lightning.

Smoothness, feel, shine and sound of plastic does it for me. In rainwear I get extra excited at sporty, rather than traditional styles for some reason, so elasticated cuffs and ankles, short jackets with elastic hem, and zips rather than buttons or poppers. The more transparent the better and unlined of course!

Well of course I love all aspects of rubberised rainwear, the look the shine the rustle but above all the feel. That's what does it for me, the quality of the rubberising is everything it doesn't matter if its a mackintosh or cape or overtrousers or just a rubberised sheet, it's the wonderful smooth slippery feel that counts. Which is the best maker? Well right at the top is the best by mac mac, incomparable! Soft and smooth and flows like water through the fingers. The nylon silk Hamiltons are great too as are weather or not and single texture Traditional Weatherware. All those are natural rubber but I also love the feel of neoprene rubberized fabric shiny and smooth and doesn't suffer from rubber rot! I have recently discovered the delights of Malaysian rubber, fabulous feel but little rustle, I have a long cape made of it from Hamiltons- thanks Ayshea.
