Well done Straightjacketed. The nub of the issue, as you point out, is that we are all trying to decipher the original meaning of the first post, rather simply seeking clarification from the writer. That would have solved loads of time and angst!

"If this has all simply been about one member objecting to male/male content in stories, then I'm with KlepperGuy and annabell-cagoule. I had mixed feelings about a separate Gay Stories forum but went along with it and tried to make it work because I basically trust Mason but if I've been naive and it's all basically a response to a single person's homophobia, then I'm both surprised and disappointed."

With the greatest of respects, those who know me well, would be aware that I'm anything but homophobic. I have gay & straight friends, I have Jewish & Muslim friends. In short, frankly, I don't give a shit where anyone comes from or their sexuality.

Having said that, I read multiple complaints about some of these gay stories veering so far away from rainwear, that they've become little more than badly written porn. I have actually read gay stories I liked (I enjoyed reading "Joined the Truck and Car Wash" story very much), but some of the recent efforts left me cold. Seriously, please stick to the central theme of rainwear, gay or not.

Hence the creation of this (new) section, which I feel simplifies things a lot for everybody. It has nothing to do with homophobia.

I absolutely accept that you, Mason, are not homophobic in any intentional or personal sense. That's never been my impression and, in my time here, I have enjoyed my interactions with you.

I disagree, however, when you say the creation of a Gay Stories section is wholly unconnected with homophobia. In my opinion, the decision to conflate writing that is overly explicit, off-topic, badly-written or complained-about with writing featuring same-sex content does overlap with homophobic motivations (not necessarily your own). There are plenty of stories here that I find overly explicit, off-topic or badly-written - God knows, the majority leave me cold - and, although I initially tried to get on board with it because I like and respect you, I don't think the best solution was to segregate those with a specifically male-male (because, let's face it, female-female isn't usually seen as problematic) perspective. It creates a ghetto and when you state that "they now have their own section for their putrid rubbish" it's hard to view that ghetto in a gay-positive light.

For what it's worth, I think a better way of handling this would've been to encourage all writers to stay within acceptable parameters and to use a system of content warnings (M/F, M/M, etc) at the beginning of their stories. I've been a forum moderator elsewhere, though, and I know it's a thankless task, involving decision-making that inevitably leads to complaints from one side or another. You can't privilege minorities but I do think there's value in looking at the extent to which complainants are themselves active contributors to the online community.

Speaking of online communities, I fully acknowledge that, ultimately, I have no intrinsic right to post on Rainwear Central, let alone argue with the decisions of whose who built the place. I do have the right to distance myself from those decisions by withdrawing my content and I've taken the liberty of doing so. I've tried to do as much "cleaning up" after myself as possible but apologise for posts you may have to delete - including this one.

I'm pretty easy to track down on other fetish-related sites so anyone missing my writing (and I don't flatter myself that there'll be many of you!) can find me and my stories in more inclusive parts of the internet.

No hard feelings, and all the best for the future.

Well I am not sure what is happening regarding this topic........earlier in the week there were numerous replies to the initial thread............now most have been deleted..........As a little green man in Star Wars would say 'Puzzled I am, young Skywalker'.

Plus the few stories posted in the 'Gay Themed Stories' section have also gone ???

I came on to post a story with a gay..ish theme......but will stick it in the 'Stories' section.....judge it it how you wish.

Oops as there is not long to go...........I WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR...........WITH PLENTY OF OF MACKING AND RAINWEAR FUN.

I used to have a diaper loving friend.........he used to SAY......... 'NAPPY NEW YEAR'

So I will say have a very .........PVCish........Plasticky.......Rubberish and Mackintoshy........ NEW YEAR
Safe safe.

Hey Mason

Be careful what you say, don't say what you think the Woke brigade will cancel you out! Good luck moderating this site because there are so many snowflakes out there ready to have their say.

You actually raised some very good points, particularly those relating to content warnings and I will discuss this with Paul. I'm very inclined to go along with this idea.
