Thank heavens for wet weather…

Post by Deleted User 5375 »

…having had a summer of no rainwear whatsoever, today was an eye opener. Where to start… lady taxi driver in black PVC leggings loading her car with shopping for the passenger right in front of me as I waited in the queue. Girl in black PVC flared jeans. Lady in a leopard print PVC raincoat checking out the bargain rail in the store and found and checked out another (slightly different) PVC leopard print mac. Lady in an AGU style navy mac with white stripes. Hopefully a sign of things to come!

I've just come back from walking round several shops in my local retail park in the rain wearing the Top Shop EVA mac I bought 4 or 5 years ago.
Didn't see anyone else wearing pvc/pu/plastic rainwear

At last some good rain. I started by wearing my red nylon 'Rainmac' to venture a short walk to my car. What a thrill it was with hood up. I then had to take my wife to Tesco and assuming I thought my petrol blue nylon 'Totes' mac would be more acceptable, not a word in anger. We walked around Tescos without a comment or a look. I got quite wet as not waterproof in particular the hood , but didnt care. We then went into a coffee shop nearby for twenty minutes. No comments anywhere. I love my nylon macs, they rustle as ever. It was such a thrill again.

Managed a 2 hour walk in todays rain.

Heavy yellow pvc jacket over heavy pvc yellow dungarees was the rain wear bit; under then orange ex USAF flight suit not plastic though; and walking boots.

The jacket is a Helly Hansen ‘mandal’ nice and roomy, although it has poppers not zip; the hood fits well with its draw cords. The dungarees are similar material but from Norway off Amazon (no longer available after went to get another colour).

The flightsuit is just another interest layer. Flight suit all zipped up, and yellow gear closed up and hood up.

BBC weather called it heavy rain, it was just steady rain not heavy. But heavy enough for continuous rain popping on the pvc. 10 minutes walk along a busy main road, getting traffic spray, then onto a path part open part under trees, about half and half of each. It just kept raining in the open gusty wind. Under trees heavy drops from leaves.

Path used a lot by cyclists and dog walkers – not today, just one cyclist. But passed another walker – a lady in a transparent rain poncho over what looked like a rainsuit. Unusual to see other walkers. Maybe someone from in here ???

On the way back rain got heavier and wind from behind but remained dry inside the pvc although it was a bit sweaty.

Long time since able to do this :)

msg me if anyone wants to chat ;)

I was also out enjoying the rainy weather. Went for a pushbike ride for a few miles to start with, by the time I got back to where I had left my van I was very hungry so I went into a nearby supermarket to buy some grub. No one inside the supermarket took any notice of what I was wearing, but as I was crossing the car park a woman on a path above called out "I love your mackintosh". It's the first time I've had a compliment from a woman.

It was also very wet for two weeks ago and for the first time in a long time I saw a woman in a shiny black vinyl raincoat in my hometown. Later that afternoon I also saw someone wearing a red patent leather raincoat (presumably from Zara). Still good to see such jackets on the streets again, although they are still hard to find in shops.
