Thank you .
I normally go out in mine especially my nylon rubber lined leggings if its raining with nothing on underneath its lovely to feel the cold nylon blow on my skin and feel it .
It just adds to my fetish.

Hello!
Having a hobby of walking around in full rainwear (bibpants and raincoats tucked in) in Melbourne, regardless of the weather, I can say...there is an initial barrier which have to be overcome when you go out into public, especially into a crowded place. It's a type of stage-fright, same type of excitement and nervousness before public speaking (but ofc not the same), being looked at by a larger number of people at once (which is also not true, a lot less people take notice). It takes a few trials of reframing this stage-fright in your mind and actually start seeing it as something enjoyable. I guess works the same as as adrenaline boost to people who seek out other challenging hobbies that are scary or even dangerous, and it is addictive. I started wearing duller and less colorful raingear living in Brisbane (climate wasn't great), and build up the confidence over many years. If you manage to reframe the thoughts on stage-fright, by the time you have second thoughts, you are already walking down main street clad in full glossy PVC rainbins, raincoat and hat.
It is though important that the smaller the place gets, the more people you know and less anonymity there is. In a big city, you walk past the same people probably a lot more then you initially think (along with large masses of people who you will only see once) but still nobody remembers you from last time. This certainly works in favour for walking around in raingear.
Happy to hear your opinions on the matter more. 🙂

Hey Meroving!
Definitely building up to being fully committed to it is a good idea. I've almost had no experience with wearing rainwear in public before, therefore I'll start off slowly before working up to wearing something a bit more bold I suppose. Awesome hearing your story, you're a much braver being than I am wearing all of that in downtown Melbourne haha! Though, as you say, you barely see the same person twice, and if and when you do, they don't remember you, or just don't take notice.

Being a fellow Aussie, may I ask where you buy your rainbibs from? Are there any physical stores around the place or are rainwear stores more online?
Cheers, Blundy

This is a very interesting topic.
I thing we have all gone through similar feelings to begin with. Until you make that initial 'walk on the wild side' you wont realise that probably to 99% of the population, what you are doing is normal. Its only in YOUR head that what you are doing is naughty! There are no flashing lights on top of your anorak hood spelling out 'raincoat lover or pvc fetishist!' Its all in your mind. I get a real buzz wearing my highly shiny puffer coats and jackets with hood up. Not only is it lovely snug and warm, but to me a huge turn on, yet the only comments I have ever received is 'love your coat, where can I get one' from both male and female, and a couple of mates down my pub!!!!!! Just go for it. Good luck. Think positive!!!

That's a really good way to think of it!
I might go down to the big smoke one day soon and try out some of this. I'll do it on a rainy day so it looks more normal and see how that goes!

Hi again Blundy, I just read your replies and if you're only wearing very conservatively coloured rainwear, you'll be absolutely fine. I guarantee NO ONE will remark on your rainwear or wellies, no matter where you go, even if its only cloudy & cold. Or raining of course. If you're walking a dog, it's even better. You'll come across as someone who wants to stay dry & warm while doing so.

Seriously, it's ALL in the mind. No one will associate your rainwear with kinky fetish ... period.

Once you've been out a few times, you can start wearing brighter colours when you feel more comfortable. The old Innovations reversible yellow over blue raincoats are perfect for such rainy day outings. PM me if you want more ideas.

It took me years to build up my courage to this point, although having an unsympathetic and very judgemental mother and sister didn't help... *sigh*

Hi Meroving, it's nice to see I'm not the only one into rainwear in Melbourne. Are you looking forwards to tomorrow? Hahaha

Anyway, you raised some very interesting points. Your experiences pretty much mirrors mine as well, but it took me a long time to get to this point. I do feel very self-conscious at times, but I'm trying to overcome that. Generally, if its really wet and cold, the less any kind of rainwear stands out. Even my shiny yellow stuff.

However, I now routinely wear even my shiny rainwear almost everywhere. I recently wore my long, shiny black Stutterheim raincoat (over my vinyl rainpants) to the Melbourne Flower & Garden Show. I managed to pick the one very rainy day and bought tickets for that day. Barely anyone paid me any attention, although I did receive some nice compliments on it. That was a heavenly day indeed. It was so much fun eating lunch in the pouring rain. No queues and nobody hogging all the tables & chairs either. My plastic rainpants also kept my butt nice & dry too.

I've also worn my deep blue PVC-U-LIKE onesie rain overalls to the local shopping centre and all around town, although I only bring them out on really cold days. I regularly wear my shiny yellow Aliexpress rainsuit everywhere, along with my favourite shiny-as, yellow FarmerRain mac (they feel great over the matching bibpants) as well.

BTW, do you wear your bibpants over your rainjacket? Or under?

Personally, I'd rather wear them over, but I don't want to come across as totally strange, so I don't.

I went for a walk with my full length shiny red raincoat and my yellow Sou wester hat and, of course gum boots. It rained all day today, and hopefully there will be more tomorrow

Hi there mate! I’m also new to this forum and I live in a semi-dry mining area of WA and probably face the same issues as you so I understand you.

Could I send you a pm?

Don’t see a huge problem.
Being winter if you just wore the raincoat people probably wouldn’t bat an eyelid.
What state are you in?
