Burning Man festival and floods

Post by Deleted User 415 »

Here in the states, I’m reading about the 70,000 plus attendees stuck with a flooded mud desert area at the “Burning Man” festival.

The typical UK festival photos on a normal festival show vast amounts of folks in tall wellies for the event. Is that still the case?

Even with wellies, it is tough on the person and the wellies as the conditions look like a mostly sand small amount of dirt type of mud, guessing very rough on wellies.

Photos of this particular festival don’t show that at all. I understand the rains caught them by surprise.

Do any of you see anything different? Might this change the packing culture of festival goers here in the states or is that a dream?

Burning Man takes place in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada where annual rainfall totals about 7 inches (175mm). Rain simply isn't a thought for the attendees or organizers. The US does not have a similar festival scene compared to Europe, so I doubt there will be any mentality shifts.
