Hi, No its not gay for men to wear shiny macs, have done this for years, even play bowls in a white ladies pvc jacket from Tesco and no one has made any comments about it.

There is a large public perception that it is. To explain, this is not singling out the wearing of shiny/patent raincoats, but there is a long standing opinion that a man whom expresses himself with fashion or exhibits being well groomed seems to have attained a stigma of 'gay', this is mainly because many men for years never give two hoots about their appearance. Fortunately the fashion industry and the internet are breaking down these opinions, and men are actively encouraged today to groom and dress well, and express themselves as individuals.
Many mainstream fashion retailers also sell many different types of raincoats these days for men in all sorts of materials.

It certainly is not gay to wear shiny rain wear in public. If you enjoy it then do it.

Why should it be gay?
Gay is about men loving men. You're talking about your love to wear shiny raincoats - that's a fetish, different topic
Now that the facts are clear the question is whether or not you care of public perception. Men in shiny clothes could at least be seen as "weird" (unless you're on a rave or gothic festival). I think the public's perception is changing anyway - 10 years ago with all these vinyl skirts etc. around young girls would've been seen as working in some red light environment... nowadays it's trendy fashion (a fact that I truly like btw ^^).
When I was younger I cared about wearing rainwear in public more. Nowadays not anymore - I wear what I like. And if the sun's coming out and it's getting warmer - well keep it one if you like it. As simple as that.
Personally I'd recommend: Go for it! There's only one life. Do what you like to do!

Even if I’m gay I simply like to wear shiny raingear but only mens ones.
Go even to work in Opal Stutterheim with no comment.
Wearing the shiny red one in Paris has questions from guys asking where I bought it. Included a young lad. Don’t think he was gay

It's most definitely not 'gay' to wear shiny rainwear in public. I can't understand what sexuality has to do with it either. I'm straight and I prefer to wear the shiny rainwear as opposed to the dull. I'll admit that the shiny rainwear is aimed more at women and is designed to fit women but I've found that farmerrain rainwear is unisex and I've just bought a new glossy black retro coat from them which I'll only wear when it's raining but will wear my dull black, green or grey rainjacket when there's a threat of rain. I've worn a shiny black PVC mac from PVC u like before when there was a threat of rain but it wasn't raining and got funny looks from people which I didn't when I was wearing my dull farmerrain coats. I've found that if you wear a dull coloured raincoat in the rain it appears shiny because of it being wet anyway so there won't be that much difference between that and a shiny raincoat to be honest.
