Pea Jacket in Heavy black PVC

Post by Rob1* »

Hello

I am new on this site based in the UK For some time I have been looking for a Pea Jacket (like Jimmy Perez wore on TV Shetland series) but made of Rubber or heavish black PVC. The logic was a waterproof jacket which I think would be good to wear in bad weather to keep your body dry and be easy to drive in or travel on public transport. I have looked around but as yet not seen anything has anyone got any ideas? PVC suits as it would not be as expensive, I think a made to measure rubber coated cotton one would be hundreds of pounds, which is too expensive. What I was looking for was more of an everyday jacket made of thickish dull black PVC Has anyone got any suggestions whether any are made or where I could possibly get one from. Thanks in anticipation

You might find what you want among Grundens products, designed primarily for fishing. Search online; e-bay currently have a number of such items, both new and secondhand in good condition that may solve the price problem as Grundens products, though of good quality, do tend to be on the expensive side. I bought my own Grunden's jacket, made of heavy PVC but looking and feeling exactly like rubber and making all those lovely rubbery sounds when you put it on and move about in it, a few years ago from a local shop near me in London selling stylish menswear, reduced from £150 to £50, as I suppose it was not the sort of regular menswear this sort of shop would normally sell. It is matte rather than shiny which reduces for me as an elderly man the embarrassment factor I would feel standing out in shiny rubber! It doesn't have a hood but you can have fun searching for a rubbery looking rain hat! Sorry I can't do photos as my tech skills are nil!

Hello everyone

Further to my original post re a Pea jacket/coat (like Jimmy Perez wore in the Shetland series but waterproof made of rubber or PVC) I thought I would update you on my quest.

I have had some real success Weathervain make a peacoat in PVC, PU or Rubber. The prices are pretty high for my very limited budget but the pics look very good, from memory about about £200 for pvc up to £700 for the rubber version. Hamilton classic rainwear said they could make to order again as you would expect for a bespoke rubber garment it would be expensive but well made as of course Weathervain would be .

So I asked PVC u Like if they could do anything like this. After some discussions with very helpful staff. Success for under £100 I have a matt black 280m pvc double breasted mack shortened to 30inches long. It looks good my wife likes it and it was what I could afford. I am very pleased.
