Just out of curiosity, what is the name of this Chinese bespoke clothing company? I’ve been looking for just such a place online.Sbr.and.vinyl wrote: ↑May 17th, 2024, 12:44 pm Any psychologists out there?
Right from a very young age I have always loved the feel and the look of really shiny macs, coats, jackets. Anything wearable really. As I get older its getting worse! The mirror glass pvc, now being made is truly amazing. I cant stop buying it off aliexpress! Worse, Ive now found a company in china who state they will make bespoke items given a design or photo to copy! My wife has the patience of a saint but.....
How on earth can I cure myself of this addiction? Of course the hard bit is that I dont want to be cured!!!
Why me!
Serious question... why do I love the look and feel of shiny vinyl?

As far as I remember I had to wear a shiny red vinyl unlined raincoat with a strong pvc aroma in the late 60s, when I was 4 years old. From that moment I was fascinated by shiny vinyl raincoats.

I would love to go to a hypnotherapist to track down where and when this all started. I know it stems from childhood, I vaguely remember a red vinyl mac my mum wore. I used to like stroking it as a kid. I was bought a dark blue plastic mac when very young and hated it. Perhaps it was then!

I think that account will be accurate for most.Blackvinyl wrote: ↑May 20th, 2024, 9:24 pm I would love to go to a hypnotherapist to track down where and when this all started. According to psychologists, fetishes in adulthood arise from 'imprinting' that occurs during childhood.
When I was a kid, the sight of others wearing shiny or glass clear rainwear caught my attention, for reasons I can't really explain.
Aside from PVC rainwear, I also enjoy inflatables made a from shiny or glass clear PVC (the only difference in the PVC film/sheeting used in inflatables is that it is often a little thicker than the sheeting used for rainwear).
For me, the sound the material makes is also a factor. I enjoy the rustles, crackles and squeaks. PVC 'ticks all the boxes' in terms of sensory appeal: auditory (the rustling/creaking/crackling sound), visual (shininess and bright colours), olfactory (PVC aroma) and tactility (soft, smooth and rubbery feel).
