the thing with C and A is that they did have some wonderful rainwear and it didnt sell that well. I remember one year they had so much mens rainwear left at the end of summer they were selling really decent macs for a pound each, which even in the late 80s or so was not expensive my any means. The tragedy is I didnt actually bother to buy any. Hindsight tells me it was obvious that they would never carry such items again as they sold so badly and I should have taken the opportunity to stock up abit. I can imagine that i am not the only one to pass by an opportunity and regret it afterwards

I remember that C&A were generally well stocked with ladies' plastic macs in the early to mid 1980's. I bought my wife one in the same sort of emerald green worn by Ella for a trip to the Western Isles of Scotland. When that one wore out, I followed it up with one in a sort of lilac candy stripe. It can sometimes be easier to get a "reluctant" spouse to wear a mac if it demonstrably comes from a mainstream supplier rather than a specialist retailer. She also had one of the splendid warm lined shiny polyurethane macs from Harglenis that were generally popular amongst women in the late 80's.

Wondered what the smell was, thought it was PVC :D
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)
