Sir John Deanes Grammar School--Northwich,a pletherer of raincoats at an all boys school. One boy i always looked out for when it was raining always wore a Shiny Yellow Oilskin Jacket and Trousers as he cycled to school...Once he had changed and hung up the Jacket and Trousers in the cloakroom,i would always hang my coat next to his,and feel, smell and lick his jacket and trousers...aah Great memories from the 70s,knowing you liked both boys and girls when you are 13 was very uncomfortable then.

Thank you both of you to remind me so nice memories.

As far I remember I was 9 to 11 years old and I often did the same. One girl had a see throu raincoat that I often stolen when the weather was rainy to go to the outside bathroom. As we were near the channel the weather was often rainy :-)

It is not quite the school cloakrooms but I have a really lovely memory from the mid-sixties when I was at grammar school. I was asked by the form teacher to put a form in each of our form's desks. Every one had gone to dinner so I was on my own. In each of the girls desks who I knew wore plastic macs was their mac rolled up, Margaret who always wore a green one, Valerie's was a lovely red one, Christine was an opaque white. The temptation to unroll one was so strong but I had to resist as someone could have come in at any time. Despite the frustration it remains a lovely memory.

I never experienced the joy of rubber macs in school. My generation probably. When i was younger, i was actually forced to wear blue nylon overtrousers and matching jacket. When i arrived at school, i hung them up at my hook in the cloakroom. I thought i was only one to be so 'kitted up' but if i looked around , there were everywhere and they must have been sensible like me
