I wear my clear raincoat all the time in public, sometimes even my yellow one ... but that rainsuit is too fetish-y to wear anywhere except maybe the local park where it is much quieter.

I guess I don't understand the problem here. My SO and I just returned from a 10 day vacation in the UK. As expected, the weather was changeable and during the trip she wore both her shiny black PVC and her navy-blue rubberized satin mackintosh and I wore my beige single-texture on several occasions.

Negative comments were zero. So what is the issue?

It seems more acceptable somehow for a woman to be seen out wearing pvc. If more men did so I might be more encouraged to do so.I am seriously thinking about buying a pvc raincoat again and getting out there.

go for it polyVinylC, it really is no big deal as long as you are sensible in your choice, as was said earlier, black, grey, dark blue possibly, just dont go for anything outrageous where you stand out and nobody will bat an eyelid.

I live in an area of the world that is rainy (Northwest USA). So for me to put on a pvc poncho or even rain jacket is no big deal. Consider that if these products are still being sold (mx rain jackets, bike jackets in pvc, mud jackets etc) then it must mean SOMEBODY is intended to wear them. So it might as well be me or you. I've never gotten any negative comment..quite the contrary. So..go for it!

have translated into English using Google.

Today I have been to a restaurant and eaten. I was wearing green rubber boots, a long dark blue raincoat, with no fixed hood and southwest. I parked my car about five and six hundred meters from the restaurant and went there in the rain. There were many people in the restaurant and I went up to the counter and ordered my food and I kept my south-west in his hand and laid it on the counter, while I ordered and paid, then I put rain clothes on a chair next to me, so that the desired saw my rain gear. Previously I have been wearing the same, when I have bought some food. I went into four shops and I had southwester tied under the chin all the time.

Today, it rained here in Bavaria quite heavily. I put on my nylon overall and also a clear plastic short raincoat from PLASTICO. I went out with my dogs, enjoyed the pouring rain, and met many other people in shirts who were totally soaked.
Maybe they are "getting wet without protection fetishist". I can't believe that people get out without any raingear, when the weather forecast undoubtely has heavy rainfalls on the radar.
Anyway, I enjoyed the 60 mi. walk, and I was totally dry when returned home. Then I took a small towel and gently rubbed my shiny class clear slicker almost dry (to be honest, I don't like the grey raindrops on the shiny glass clear vinyl fabric, that looks so dirty, therefore I always clean my slicker after having uses it in the heavy rain.
