I like getting my nylon dirty , then enjoy washing it and pressing it so its pristine for more fun .

I used to work as a milkrounds man.I used to look forward to the rainy days. It was Peter storm cagoule or the yellow pvc anorak and trousers for me.To be out in the pissing rain was a delight.

I worked as a outdoor instructor for the past 35 years or so, over that time i have had to wear waterpoofs when working outside countless times, i always used my gore tex on the worst days as needed ultimate breathabilty and waterproof ness in hostile mountain weather but, for the less extreme side then peter storm trousers or regatta, light weight cagoules of all sorts, bib waterproofs for winter canoe trips with wellies and nylon bivi bags on over night trips was the norm. Of course some sexy teachers and group leaders over the years in full nylon cagoule and over trousers was always nice to see.

This item brought back some memories, especially what MrDoudy wrote.

In my student days I also worked in two car-washes in Nottm in the late 1960's. One was called the '5minute' car wash and we wore green pvc two piece coveralls and white wellies, but none of it stayed clean very long. Across the back of the suit was stencilled '5 Minute'. As he said there were eight guys, not all students and we worked in teams of 4. it was hot sweaty work. This carwash folded and was taken over, so I jopined them and
moved to the outskirts of the town to work. Here our suits were heavy yellow pvc (similar to trawlermens gear) made by 'North', bib and brace trousers and a overhead top, black wellies.
I worked here for the best part of 9 months, here there were 6 guys.
Eventually I started work and watched the carwash both in the morining and evening as I passed it travelling home from work on the bus.
Then one day the garage/carwash closed and started to look like a building site. After some serious thinking I went on my bike to check the carwash out. There through the folding doors to the side entrance drive in area were the yellow suits strewn over the floor. The doors were not locked and pushed easily open. In a moment I made up my mind and going back after dark with a rucksack, got two sets of gear. The smell of the suits, the pvc mixed with the smell of the guys who wore them and the grimey dirtmade them even more appealing.
Washed and cleaned these two suits kept me in pleasure for nearly 7 years.........then I was going to get married. What could I do but dump them.
I made 4 parcels and dumped them in a builders skip.
The twist is I married and within the years my wife and I admitted two things, me liking rubber, pvc plastic and she to having a fantasy of being restrained.........so we explored our likings together. In the end we both became rubberists and Mackintosh Society members.
One thing we always laughed about was me dumping the pvc carwash gear..........if only I could have know what path life would take me.
Sadly, we can never see around the corner and life crashed for us both in 1995, when she died of cancer.
But thankfully I have a new partner now a male one who knows all about my past and my gear.

Now the irony, the building in which this story started where the '5 Minute' car wash was, still stands, although it is a roofless shell. I go to regular meetings in a building opposite and look across at the shell and memories flood back to the time...........when I was a '5 Minute' carwash guy.

So the question is...........I wonder how many of the other carwash guys I worked with were as turned on by the gear as I was.

I vaguely remember the old 5 minute car wash, never had cause to use it, although I did use one by the Crown island. Can't recall where exactly the 5 minute car wash was, can either of you enlighten me.

There is something so refreshing about been outside clad in lots of pvc layers during a torrential downpour

My new Delta plus long green raincoat arrived yesterday, wow it is very heavy and smells lovely. Just waiting for the rain now to go for a walk, i have already been outside with it over my arm like i was taught, even then im sure people know about me. Has anyone looked on pakamac history world.

Have been lifeguarding today in the rain, full wetsuit on under my red nylon waterproof lifeguard cagoule was cosy warm.
