Fantasies like this belong in the stories section, dream on.
OUCH!!!

If you knew me Tradmack, you would know, as others do that I'm honest person. I'm not prone to fantasy unless it's Lord Of The Rings...
I say what I mean and mean what I say.
There's absolutely nothing outrageous about being payed a compliment by younger women. It's happened alot. Sorry if it's not happened to you yet.

I have to say, at 48 years young i still get complimented on my style by younger women, and that includes if i am wearing my red regatta plastic mac. Shiny pvc macs, pvc fake rubber fisherman’s style macs are both ‘on trend’ as they say and kway leon and claude cagoules are definitely popular with younger girls and hipster men. I even saw Jamie Oliver cooking in his kitchen wearing a blue peter storm original over Christmas! (I was a little gobsmacked to say the least), so not surprising that you got complimented.
Lets get swishy!

Do people really make comments to strangers on how they are dressed, whether its rainwear related or not

To be honest I find the thought quite creepy

It doesn't happen often, but yes it does. I've had some nice comments on my PUL one-piece blue rain overalls. Yes, I DO wear them in public, but only during very wet & cold days.

Agree entirely, people do and will comment positively>
Last year, i returned to my hotel, late in the evening, was pouring with rain, and therefore i was wearing my shiny PVC Mac, from Rainmac. I was chatting to the lady on the desk, when 2 couples came in, carrying luggage, and very wet, none of them wearing a coat of any sorts.
I stepped back from the desk as the Gentlemen checked in.
The ladies smiled and one said to the other, 'well someone was prepared for this rain'
I smiled in acknowledgement, where by the other lady said, 'excuse me for asking, but where did you purchase your mac from?'
I said exactly where i brought it from, but unfortunately the shop in now closed.

They continued to chat to me whilst the Gentleman got their respective room keys, with one saying that my coat was lovely.

It does happen, not often i agree.

I have received complements from people whilst wearing my PUL mac at Goodwood Revival - an event that seems to get rain on one of the three days.

I have also received complementary comments from people when they have seen me washing my car ( a 4*4) wearing a PU bib n brace and wellingtons - to the effect "well kitted up for the job"

So yes people do comment positively
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)

I finally finished customizing my weatherite sbr raincoats and enjoyed a wonderful nights sleep in them last night. Not for everyone I know, but very enjoyable for me.

Annabel - where did you see Jamie in his PS? He has worn one before on the 'Jamie at Home' series I think.

I even saw Jamie Oliver cooking in his kitchen wearing a blue peter storm original over Christmas! (I was a little gobsmacked to say the least).
