I prefer rubber rain wear and some heavy PVC like Grundens and Guy Cotton and also rain gear that has a heavy exterior coating of polyurethane.

Although I love rubber rainwear, my favourite raingear used to be the cotton backed mackintoshes similar to the shiny Rukka style ones. Sadly they are very hard to get hold of now.

Nylon, Rubber, or PVC

It has always been PVC/Plastic for me, but I do enjoy wearing Rubber/Latex as well.

I love all sorts of material that is soft, smooth, slippery and shiny - so I have to add plastic to the list, as well as all the others.

For me it "hasta be plastic" smooth, thick and crisp, so it makes some noise.

I prefer rubber, but the really good rubber raingear -- kleppers and rubber macks -- are very expensive. And while nothing beats them for heavy-duty rain protection, it is really hard to keep them in decent condition, especially if they get used a lot.

So for everyday outdoor use, I'm wearing more heavy-weight PVC. (I'm just now looking for some good offshore-quality PVC gear -- posted another topic asking about that.)

When we're doing the full-on fetish thing, I go for head-to-toe latex clothing and rubber raingear. My wife prefers latex on the inside and PVC on top of that.

Of course, boots are a different matter. Rubber riding boots, waders, regular rainboots -- they're the only way to go.

I don't care for rubber or nylon but just love mooth semi transparent gray pvc. I have one very nice raincoat made from it.

My top 3:

1: pvc
2: rubber
3: nylon

I prefer pvc the most because its easy to use and always shines, rubber needs lots of care (shiny spray and powder).
