Like the sound of all these.rainfash wrote: ↑August 18th, 2024, 10:14 am I like to wear cotton backed raincoats like Rukka, when it’s a little bit colder, below 10 degrees celsius. They are smooth and keep you a little bit warm, compared to pure vinyl raincoats.
Between 10 and 20 degrees celsius I like to wear thin vinyl raincoats, mostly clear or transparent, very noisy, crackly, swishy, shiny, vinyl materials. And they are still very soft at 20 degrees celsius, whereas they get stiff below 5 degrees celsius, so it’s depending on the outside temperature, which raincoats to wear…

I LOVE this Rukka and I really love this picture, it says it all about how perfect the Rukka raincoat is. It has all the qualities I love in a raincoat! I sound like I am talking about a women lol…WilmaRukka wrote: ↑August 17th, 2024, 8:07 am

i almost got that style off ebay but the clock was out of sync so when i placed a last second bid it was too late. strangely it was never reposted. i also once saw one posted but i could not buy it because the seller was not shipping it to my country.

my shiny blue rukka is even older. i was informed if the label is embedded instead of printed, it indicates it is a pre 1970's. it has a white fabric hood though but it has a vented back and these copper colored popper buttons. the material is really nice but the hood is nothing compared to the iconic design.

Re: Material Discussions
With my modifications of my Farmerrain Retro coats I tried to get an aftermarkt buckle which looks like the original Rukka ones...

and is wide enough to handle a 5 cm belt (the belt of the coat). Impossible to find exact this buckle, the best I could find was that one here :

Together with a replacement of the original hood drawstring and cord ends this can give you the closest possible belted-Rukka-style with a contemporary "still in production" raincoat.
A different way and my newest project of modifying a Farmerrain Retro is the "Mackintosh belt mod"...

i got the retro 2.0. i noticed the material is the same as the retro 1.0 but the corduroy lining is white instead of black and there is an extra popper button on the inside. also the seams are different.

my blue rukka surprisingly still has this soft rubber texture and it is very old. the yellow rukka i have is more plasticky.

Re: Material Discussions
Sorry, but it's not the same. I have direct comparison between the black retro in the first version (with the reflecting "Farmerrain" brand name on the right sleeve, I have one in size S for my fashion shoots), the last 1.0 version with stormflap "double" buttoning and the new 2.0 (my personal one in XL). The very first fabric was soft and extremely shiny (laquered-like), the update on the 1.0 coat was much stiffer and less shiny than the very first version. The 2.0 fabric is by far the softest but also less shiny. The feel of wearing is best with the 2.0 coat! It's the most comfy-to-wear version of all retro coat versions. In terms of wearing comfort it's a giant leap for mankindrainwearseeker wrote: ↑August 19th, 2024, 1:26 pm i got the retro 2.0. i noticed the material is the same as the retro 1.0 but the corduroy lining is white instead of black and there is an extra popper button on the inside. also the seams are different.

The pic of the black above shows the material of the updated 1.0 version). It's the coat of a friend tuned by Tiefdruckgebiet

Very nice Rukka - must be the belted version bc of the pocket style? What means "enjoyed" (past tense)? Do you still own that coat?

I can only speak for the black version as my only 2.0 is a black one (from the 1.0 I have different colors). But I think the other 2.0 color versions are comparable in terms of fabric .
