And I thought I had a few... I buy just about any I see when I'm hitting up the thrift shops around town.

My attraction to plastic/vinyl rainwear goes long and deep. My first raincoat was a full length shiny grey plastic "esta glass" Sears model from the early fifties. Back in that day everything was plastic. Shower curtains, mattress covers, baby pants, aprons and, of course, rainwear. Seemed like the shinier it was, the thicker it was, and the noisier it was, the more it counted. To this day, even doing chores, proper rainwear involves at least a transparent plastic rain jacket, like a parka or bicycle raincape. Walking around, the patter of the rain, the rustle, swish, and the crackle of the material as it flexes, just carries a message of satisfaction, protection, and purpose. Might just as well enjoy the outdoors!
