prefer the rain in the summer when its warm really. The only snag is that rainwear can then be a bit sweaty. Not that keen on cold rain like today, trouble is you get all wrapped up in rainwear and then need to go in shops where it is warm and its rather uncomfortbale. Something of adilemma really

i have one of the long waxed drizabone stockman's coats i wear sometimes

it's useful in heavy rain as it covers my legs and the saddle - it's calf length even when i'm in the saddle, so it covers the tops of my boots. rain just runs down the coat and then down the outside of the boots
