I managed to get my wife to wear her green satin rubberlned cape to the shops yesterday in the puoring rain. It felt great to see her dressed like that outside for the first time.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your day out with your wife wearing her rubber-lined cape. I hope that you were also appropriately dressed for the rain.

My partner surprised me last night by wearing her pvc-u-like rain jacket and thigh high boots and this morning I've just seen a student wearing a stunning black pvc shirt out in the elements. Hopefully plenty more pvc & plastic to come this summer

Jenni, I'm really interested in hearing that you wear your red rubber lined satin mackintosh in the rain, I have a black satin rubber lined mackintosh which I am worried will get stained by the rain in a heavy downpour, so have not worn it on a rainy day, does the satin not get stained or damaged by the rain? if it does n't then I will look forward to wearing it on the next rainy day. Being black and a mid length, I find that I don't get any unusual looks and really enjoy wearing it.

Depends what you would either like her too wear or you buy for her?
And where you would like her too wear them?
Try a normal nylon pvc rain jacket and trousers on a walk somewhere then go from there!

Julie in her message raises a good point.."What is wrong with people when it rains"....No wearing of raincoats
I think....it is not cool or trendy too wear a mac so they are prepared too get wet
Am I the only one who wears a mac when it is not raining...Why should it rain before one wears a mac.....

Is it a pvc/plastic mac or a proper raincoat that looks relatively normal?
If normal then that is fine in the eyes of the public.
PVC is another story!

YYes, thats the problem: PVC is not common in todays fashion: If you want to see people with pvc things you have to go to the beach (inflatables) or the gym (pvc gymnastic balls) today. I hope one day the pvc raincoats wiill come back. Only some pvc dome umbrellas are present on the streets at the moment.
