This is not a secure site

Post by KlepperGuy »

Hi, Just wonder if others get the warning when logging on using 'Firefox' that this is NOT a secure site to use.

Checking it out........quite correct, instead of 'https' which is secure..... this site is 'http', not secure.

Can those who run the site upgrade it to protect its members ???

Thanks

I use https://www.rainwearcentral.com and Safari shows a closed padlock and doesn't complain. Unfortunalty I dont think you can get a full security breakdown on an iPad, but it looks secure to me.

How does not being a secure site impact chanting about rain wear?
If you missed any of my rain-wear videos have a look here... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCplUP6 ... GRFRzPWLfg

When you log in your username and password is sent in plain text over the intenet, so snoopers could intercept them. Then if you use the same password for several sites they can guess these and break in to them, then steal your identity etc....

But as I said the site appears secure to me provided you put https:// in front of the www.rainwearcentral.com.

also actual Firefox (version 70.0) shows no problem if https:// is used in front of the URL. So: No Problem!

A friend of mine is in IT and he said it he site exists as both on http (insecure) and https (secure). What needs to happen is that the http one must be redirected to https by whoever runs the site, then it doesn't matter what address you use, it will be secure. In the meantime just use https://www.rainwearcentral.com and you should be good. Also each browser responds to https in a different way, so FireFox 70 might be automatically finding the secure site, whereas Safari (at least my version) doesn't.
