has anyone ever experienced a sore or stiff neck when wearing a hooded raincoat? i don't know if the size proportions are the problem because i have worn smaller raincoats where the hood is tight in the front of my neck while the larger ones give more discomfort around the back and sides if it is a heavy material. if so then what is a solution to prevent this when wearing a hood?

Have you tried tying it tighter, that sometimes gets rid of a pain in the neck

that makes no sense and sounds like it can cut circulation.

Do away with hoods and try a sou'wester instead.
Properly worn the peak keeps your face clear whilst the long back makes water run down the outside of your coat or whatever. If your collar is turned up with the sou'wester outside it you will be as protected as with a tight hood. Give it a try. It works and looks more stylish, attractive, sexy etc..
