Eagerly awaiting delivery, this morning, of my recent e bay purchase. A navy blue nylon mackintosh, a Pakamac original, 60's/70's, still in packaging. Royal Mail van approaches, as I stand by an upstairs window in surveillance. Driver stops van, runs out, and delivers through my letter box, what I had believed t by my parcel. On arriving down stairs I noticed he had merely left a card, instructing me to go to the local sorting office to collect my package. The man didn't even bother to knock.

I now have to wait 'till Saturday. But that is ok, I have several other mackintoshes to keep me amused and enveloped, till then, but he, the driver, doesn't know that.

What an affront.

Certainly not a Postman doing his job properly, at a time like this he should have put the parcel on your doorstep , knocked on your door step back a couple meters for you to take in your parcel, if you were not in yes take back for you to collect, but understanding the disappointment,as you felt excited to receive your Mackintosh....how I would like to to deliver everybody's Mackintosh personally

It's unusual for Royal Mail to card-and-run although for years it was standard operating procedure for business carriers in residential areas because the driver was paid by the drop and didn't want to waste time at residential addresses where they didn't expect anyone to be in.

My OH is a postie and this is not normal service but then again, these are not normal times and i know they are short staffed, on cut down hours, not allowed to share vans and are not allowed to sort mail next to each other, rather working shifts, so some stuff is not being delivered if they can not carry it all or it is still being sorted but had a set delivery time.

Please bare with them as they are still
Working during lockdown and getting abuse from people expecting normal service.

I hope, Annabell, you detected that my tongue was firmly in my cheeks with that message. And note the absence of any tonality that might suggest abuse.

Oh dear, what a silly little man you are. I am guessing that you are one of these people with a literal mind, and unable to comprehend the idea of irony and self deprecation. This is not the first time you have chosen to be abusive towards me, I ask that you bring it to a halt, and avoid any further contact.
