Urgent Rainwear

Anyone been in a situation where they suddenly find they are in need of some rainwear or related item, and have nothing available.
Many years ago my wife had to go in to hospital for a week and I was to be in th House on my own for the first time since our marriage. She knew of my likings in principle but I didn't own anything that I could get absorbed in alone in the evenings. The day she went in I was in work and had an overrding urge to buy something for myself. No Internet back then, so on my lunch break I went in to town and visited Argos, I had something proper to buy but added a plastic shower curtain and a plastic car cover (thin and shiny) to my order, but both were out of stock at the till, only the item I was supposed to get was in. I trolled a couple of clothing shops on the way back to the car but found nothing. That afternoon I felt quite desperate and realised I had missed my chance and would likely have several evenings with no PVC companion! As I sat at traffic lights on the way home I noticed a golf shop and wondered if they had any rainwear. They did have the most wonderfully shiny and smooth red two-piece rainsuit, but only in sizes way too big for me, but I was tempted. In the end I bought a blue rainsuit - not quite so shiny but a lovely Agu type material. You can imagine that I wore it naked every moment I could that week - it was no unlined as I prefer, but a lot better than nothing. I kept that rainsuitbfor years until eventually the shiny fabric peeled off the backing and it had to go out.
