Guy Cotten Drenec or Alta

Post by Rukkafan »

Hello all

I've been interested in Guy Cotten Drenec jacket for a while and thinking if I should buy one, but I keep thinking if it looks too heavy for a "casual" use. Does anyone here have any experience in this jacket?

My second option is the Alta jacket

Also, I would buy the Pouldo trousers to match the jacket which ever I would end up with

What do you guys think which jacket would be more suitable and better looking for casual use (walking in a forest, chores around the house etc)?

Proberbly the Alta jacket as it looks more general purpose.

Drenec for sure - so much more exciting to have a pullover which puts the hood on your head by default when you don the anorak!

I have a Drenec which I've worn on forest walks...
What I like about it is the weight, the fact that it's an anorak, the sleeves and the color, it's the ultimate protective garment.

I think it's completely normal to wear it when it rains, but I also think it would be stupid to judge people for wearing rainwear of any kind if it's keeping them dry while it's raining.

I have the Rosbras jacket and matching bib and brace for on the boat in bad weather, far superior than most other equivalent waterproofs. Not a problem to wear casually if desired and certainly hardwearing. I bought mine about 8 years ago and it is still in excellent condition.

Update

The drenec came in today and I have to say its quite not what I expected. The version that I bought was the nylpeche version which is even heavier than the one in the picture. The stor I ordered it from did not specify it. Also the sizing is even more spacious than I thought. Still, not bad. Luckily I have few days to think if I'm gonna keep this or not.
