Some years ago on this forum there was talk about Hunter rain boots both being fast to wear out, some have experienced leaks, and complaints on the quality compared to the Scotland produced ones. The change of the brand to a fashion brand may in itself have raised the price.
So with all those downsides, what alternatives are good at reasonable cost?
I would think Kamik but most Kamik seem to be PVC not real rubber.
What do you like for real rubber wellies that don’t have the fashion high price and that last longer than Hunter boots?

I would guess almost every rubber boot brand nowadays gets their products produced in China.
One of the exceptions might be Le Chameau, but if they are being sold at a "reasonable cost" is something you must judge (they aren't cheap).
You could also maybe look at the Hunter brand but avoid the normal wellies and look for the Balmoral/Norris ones. They seem to be made for what every Hunter boots was made for in the past: wearing them.

I have stopped to buy any expensive rubber boots, but I am looking for them at a discounter. Last week I bought a new pair at ALDI in Germany for 7,99 €. They are good quality and I wear them daily, also in office.

I have recently bought a pair of Barbour Bede wellies and find them very comfortable and great looking, those who know me know that I am a Hunter lover through and through but Barbour are fast becoming a favourite for me, and I also find that Hunter Field boots are a lot tougher than the Hunter original tall, I have 2 pairs of Hunter field boots and find them sturdy enough to tackle the sort of muddy terrain that I throw at them regularly

As noted by Wellies247, the Hunter 'Norris' boots appear to have a good reputation, or at least a better reputation than the Hunter Original Tall that is produced now.
You could do what I do, which is scour eBay once a week for vintage Gates-era Hunters. Yes, they will likely have had a fair amount of use, but the quality and durability means they will be good for many years to come.
