Yesterday we came back from a holiday in Oberstdorf, (Southern Germany )
We have had some rainy days ,(Not so much as I wanted

The first days I had my new yellow raincape (Ebay ) and my wife her blue cape (Fun Plastic )
During a heavy rainstorm I discovered that there was a leakage at the front and the arm slits of my cape, so in the evening at the appartment I taped it off with strong adhesive tape.
My wife thought that the cape was torn and wanted that I buyed another one , especcially because she did not like the yellow color .So a blue nylon cape was bought (Surely not my taste and color ) but there was nothing in PVC in the shop , only nylon stuff.

On another day ,when it had rained during many hours , we have visited the Breitachklamm (Breitachgorge ) that is a small river through high rocks and cascades at the side. You can walk there along safe paths. Such a visit is even recommanded by the local tourist information service in Oberstdorf to visit that gorge at rainy weather.
It is really a great happening ,a wild river ,rain and here and there a cascade from the side of the gorge which you have to pass.
Here capes proved that they are the only way to stay dry ! Umbrellas are not usable ,because here and there the rocks are very low ,so you have to duck , to prevent bumping the head.
Also rainjacks are not really watertight in those circumstances, only a cape.!

On another dry day , we saw a man wearing a nylon raincoat and a southwester which was held by a plastic rain bonnet , what a sight!

Greetings ,Peter
