I assume you are a man and the partnerr is female. And, also assuming, you have tried buying it. It is probably no chance she will and you may put her off all together. If she lets you wear it then that may be your answer.

So, changing your partner , may well be the best answer. Not popular I know but what else can you do. Is it PVC she hates but how about a change into rubber-lined rainwear?

My ex wife hated all rainwear and only once did she wear it for me. She only had it on for about 5 minutes. She did not like wearing it but loved putting me in alsorts of rainwear mostly nylon raincoats.

In my experience, asking my wife to wear her rainwear, it is best to ask her to wear it when it is raining or forecast to rain as she does not like to stand out.

We also limit its use to outdoor situations like visiting gardens country shows or National Trust properties when others are wearing similar clothing. We often we get comments saying how appropriate we are dressed or asked where people could buy similar items.

Yesterday I visited my local NT property and a few people commented on how appropriate my rainwear was as it came on to rain during my walk.

Good luck

Although not my partner (I’m single), my best friend who lives near my vacation home has worn raincoats for me. However it has never been by force or guilt, I allow it to happen in a nonchalant manner. 9 times out of 10, she’ll put it on without hesitation or at least bring it to my place. My advice, don’t guilt/beg/plead/obligate her to wear it. Eventually, she’ll come around, or not.

Carrot… give her something she likes when she wears it. That doesn’t mean hold back if she won’t wear rainwear. It can be difficult to create the situation in the first place, but if she gets the idea that she can manipulate to get what she wants on her terms, she will be more comfortable than being asked. Also she may feel threatened so make sure she knows she is the most important thing to you, not the rainwear.
