I doubt if I'm wrong but this kind of material will dull over time.

There is a spray, but I can't remember the name, but using it will help.

Hi Beth! Sometimes it just depends on the quality of the material and how it's treated and cleaned over a period of time.
I've got some very shiny patent macks that I bought 6 or 7 years ago and they've actually got even shinier as I've cleaned them.
Try out a few different cleaning methods. Micro fibre cloths are excellent or even soft towels.
I found Fairy washing up liquid was really effective but definitely not furniture polish ! Well, not on these particular macs, anyway.
Goodluck.

One of the main enemies of shiny vinyl fabric is sweat. But raincoats are less endangered from this than trousers, dresses etc. But if you are doing sweaty things with it it should be hand washed once in a while. There are even special products for that. One of them is by Be Gloss.

The owner of a fetish shop once suggested to use a product that is made for patent shoes on the outside. But I haven't tried it yet.

I agree that sweat is an enemy, maybe on other materials as well.
Once I used skin oil to get the shiny look on a dull coat .
A very shiny effect was guaranteed and of course wellness next to skin, too,
but only if worn with the inside out :D
