Childhood Rainwear Jealousy

Post by chris227 »

Most of us have had this fun affliction since as far back as we can remember. Does anyone else remember feeling intense envy and jealousy over other kids that had rainwear that you wished you had. I often fantasized about stealing raincoats from the classroom when nobody was looking, though I never did.

Well, yes I remember, when I was 7 -10 years old in 1972 - 1975 , in ground school, many girls at my school had shiny pvc or vinyl raincoats. On a rainy day, many girls had to wear them, as we didn’t have school uniforms in our country. Many girls at the same age had shiny blue, or red, or white, or yellow raincoats, we had a room next to each classroom where all the coats were stored. I often touched these shiny raincoats, because I liked the look and feel of them, and I was sad that I just had a raincoat, that was not shiny, just yellow and matt, and as I liked the shiny vinyl raincoats, I was feeling envy and jealous, that I didn’t have one of those shiny vinyl raincoats.
Most raincoats were from Woolworths and were quite cheap, as they didn’t have a cotton lining. They were lightweight, 100% vinyl and some had matching southwesters. I always wanted to have a shiny blue raincoat, with white trim, white pockets and white press studs, but I just got these yellow, rubber coats, that I didn’t like.

I was jealous of all the girls raincoats but one especially who wore a blue nylon blouson jacket virtually all the time. Being a cross dresser but only at home in private I am very jealous of the fact that women can wear shiny PVC in public which i would love to be able to do. Men in PVC don’t do it for me but ladies are a real turn on. I love watching videos of women doing try-ons of PVC and listening to their descriptions of the fabric and how it makes them feel.

I went to a mixed grammar school (I was a clever bugger then!). Our cloakroom, although divided, housed both girls and boys coats and jackets. By the age of 13 or 14 my fetish for shiny coats, macks and anoraks was already developing into the obsession it is today! I never stole, but used to regularly 'borrow' any rainwear that particularly appealed that day. I would leave my leather case under my own hanging coat, and during the afternoon would go for a wee break and slip into the cloak room and pinch the desired mack. Once home, I would sneak it up to my bedroom, being careful not to be caught, would fondle it and wear it, then get to school early and replace it near where I took it, under someone elses coat! Sneaky heh!!! I did this loads of times. Never got caught. My favourites, the girls shiny pvc macs, especially if it was hooded, sometimes got borrowed several times! I loved all the different textures and smells. It certainly must have helped develop my particular favourites of today! To this day, I wonder how the missing, then reappearing coat owners explained that one away! Sorry, if one of you are now reading this!!!

Back when I was a youth a friend of the family visited Norway and he came back complaining about rainy weather a good chunk of the trip as well as describing seeing Norwegian kids in full raingear, rain pants and raincoats, which being 30 something years ago was more likely to be PVC. While I loved my own PVC raincoat I wished that I had rain pants that went with it like what the kids in Norway had.

I never had real rainwear when I was a child. It was the 90's and the insulated rubber boots with the drawstring tops were really popular. Vinyl raincoats were still pretty common as well. I would get very jealous of the other kids that got to wear that combination, especially since I was usually pretty wet and cold.

I was always jealous of the kids who got bought proper zip-up cagoules with stripes down the sleeves. Mine was a boring over the head type that was plain khaki coloured although it had a nice rubbery lining it wasn’t a cool coat (in either sense of the word). Bullies would torment me when having to pull it over my head as I was temporarily blinded from what was happening around and also getting caught by the weather changing meant an embarrassing scramble to pull it over my head in public. Oh how much I wanted the convenience and trendiness of a zip front! A girl wearing a shiny blue cagoule with some of the super shiny lining showing when it wasn’t zipped up was delightful but not as much as a plastic raincoat.

a very interesting subject... in my teens, there were occasions when I was jealous of other kids owning say a sexy shiny mackintosh, and wishing I had one... This was normally in the case of teenage girls.... the only time I was jealous of other teen boys, was when their mum's owned a sexy shiny mackintosh... then I would try and get my mitts on it, even just for a few minutes, just to touch caress and breathe in the aromas.....

I don’t remember being jealous of other boys and girls in their rainwear to be honest apart from one occasion when I went on a school trip aged 13 to Norfolk. One girl in my class who we all fancied wore a light blue Peter storm and I really wanted to be in her group for the practical sessions we did, alas I was put in another group so only saw her from afar as we floated oranges down a stream - I can’t recall why. The only bonus was the leader of my particular group was someone from the centre we were staying at, a woman of about 40 I guess who wore a yellow raincoat when we were out side doing activity. This should have been a huge turn on but I trimmer being very distracted by the girl in the Peter storm.
