Hello. I am going to buy myself a new pair of overalls from Farmerrain. But i am unsure wether to buy the Opalo 700g one or the biovinyl 470g one.

What would you recommend? I am pretty new to this.

Hello,

i collect PVC Rubber wear and have a huge collection, and apart from PVC-U-Like, Farmer Rain is my other choice and have around 20 of their lovely items. The overalls you refer to i have both in Biovinyl black 430 which is nice but not very shiny, but if you like to feel your in something really well and done snug, and love shiny then my favourite is the Opalo which i have in lovely Yellow and is super shiny and whilst heavy to wear once on and all done up with its storm flaps and everything you really do feel snug and is really comfy. Their macs are the same i have all their retro ones in each colour, little more expensive than your standard PVC items but well made and great quality.
However be aware you have to pay import duty on top of the price you pay separate you pay them with their chosen shipper Fed-Ex which works ok but i have to say they are not as good as DPD or DHL.
Trust that helps,
GlendaS

My question to you in return would be what is your experience with heavy gear, is it for home fun or outdoor adventures? Whats your average air temperature?

Do you like heavy gear?

At 470 farmmerrain is already quite a heavy fabric but its supple and quite nice. Personally it's at my limit of whats enjoyable/usable. I personally have to stop wearing it in anything above 8°c or I'm sweating like a pig but I'm a large dude and get hot anyway.

The opalo items at 700 is really quite heavy, I personally don't like that weight. They are cumbersome to move in and too easy to get too hot in.

Also the opalo items tend to have standard cuffs rather then elasticated like the farmerrain's own fabrics which can mean if you have a shorter leg then the size you order it's scuffing the ground.

If you have no experience go for the biovinyl, if you do and like feeling of walking through treacle go for the opalo ones.

Customers in EU countries don't have to pay import fees, just a shipping fee (now shipped with Fedex which is much more lousy for me than with former DHL). UK and other non-EU country residents have to pay import fees so these people should calculate carefully before ordering. But even with import fees a retro coat e.g. is worth its money imho.

Ok. thank you for your recommendations. I think i will go for the biovinyl one.

What about size? i have used farmerrain's size guide and measured from the beginning of my foot to my shoulders. it is exactly 155 cm.
Should i go for the large one that is 155cm og the extra large one that is 160cm. i want it to have a good fit, but not to small
