Deceitful Rainwear

Has anyone come across rainwear that looked or felt like something, but upon closer investigation was not at all what was expected? I visited a charity shop today and spotted a shiny raincoat and just had to run may hand over it. The feel was quite weird, like the surface was textured rather like very fine grooves in an old vinyl record. On closer inspection I could se it, but from a distance it just looked smooth.

For me. Textured Nylon is a tragedy. It's Nylon that has been surface treated to feel like cotton.
It's a Peach type texture. You may see it advertised as tactel nylon. Absolutely revolting.
I'm aware not many people on this forum actually like Nylon. Many prefer PVC.
99% of ebay sellers have no idea either. Textured Nylon is never mentioned for a Nylon Wind Shirt for example.
And don't even start me on the sellers listing an item as made from Polyester when it is actually Polyamide.
I'm sure 99% of ebay sellers can't read. God knows what employment these people have.
There is a subtle difference between Nylon and Polyester. The texture, feel and appearance.
The Triboelectric difference is large for a start.
Polyamide IS Nylon.

for me it must be either a soft smooth vinyl or rubber.
