How lucky we our to have our fetish.

Hi all,
I was just thinking how lucky we are to have our fetish. It's great that we can slip on a pvc mac, pvc trousers and a pair of wellies and go out for a walk in the rain, without anyone batting an eyelid. Admittedly I've had the odd snide coment mainly from my male friends but my female friends have been very positive about my pvc rainwear. After all, what's wrong with wearing a pvc rainwear when it's raining?!

nothing at all, wearing something waterproof in the rain seems perfectly reasonable

Yes...we have all experienced snide and in my opinion stupid remarks from fellow males...their main aim...to belittle us but the fairer sex
I have had two ladies told me how smart I looked in my mac
So wear your macs with pride
Looks like the next few days here in the South East will be mac wearing weather
Nice!

It will be mac wearing weather here in Swansea today also, with heavy rain from 11am right through until tommorrow morning.
Today this coincides with a 10k fun run which if it is anything like last year may see some sightings of plastic macs and poncho's, unfortunately the cheaper thin throw away type.
I will probably go and watch armed with plastic raingear of my own - either my new Blue Pvc-u-like PA5 trenchcoat or a bright Yellow hooded long mac from Plastique Unique a few years ago.
Is there anyone else in the South West of the UK going to make good use of the wet forecast today ?

Will be working outside today so will be fully cagouled up, will probably take several to swop around during the day to give others a chance to dry out

Hi all,
I had a week in UK or to be more exact, in Wales, last week. The weather was dry, which was good for the purpose I was there. I had very little time to see around. I ran through some dept stores in Cardiff but found nothing of interest. Even Primark did not sell any jelly coats. The sport shops did not sell any sauna suits. On Saturday and Sunday I had time to drive around, but as I was not alone, I just had to admire the muddy landscape of Severn estuary from the car window and the low tide revealing the muddy grounds along the Welsh coast. On Sunday it was raining. We headed first to Avebury and then to Stonehenge and I was the only in our group to have rainwear. It was a lightweight unlined black Umbro suit, which was a practical choice considering the weight limitations on Ryanair. I was pretty soaked on the outside in the rain and wind with wet sneakers, but even worse was it with the others trying to protect themselves with their umbrellas -in vain. It was a pity not to be able to have any rubberboots in the luggage. If I were there alone, I think I might have had a totally different program. Probably I would have used my spare time to take a closer look on wetlands as I have read so many interesting messages and seen so many nice pics of it in the Yahoo group 'muddybootsandrainwear' and also I would have tried to make contacts with other likeminded locals. But as said, that remained just my daydream - 'sigh'.
One very interesting sighting was in Avebury, a woman with a shiny thick black raincoat. It almost looked like rubber, but when passing her and by accident a slight touch - and excuse- it proved to be pvc.

I think very lucky for 99% of the time. The 1% is when I spend too much time on it and choose a dressing up session ahead of something I really should be doing instead.
annabell-cagoule - Interested that you were working outside and fully cagouled (I love the word cagouled!). Did you mean working in the garden or something or real work? I would love to have a job that involved dressing in my waterproofs sometimes. Does anyone have such a a job?

YES!...I WAS one of the "lucky ones"
I was a milkman for over thirty years .
Indeed the winters seemed to be longer and harsher thus sensible outerwear was essential
Being a mac enthusiast years before becoming a milkman this type of rainwear was another that became a favourite with me
I often think how many you see wearing waterproof items whilst working outdoors are mac enthusiasts who only share their fetish with others on sites like Rainwear Central

Well the current wet weather gear I'm issued with sadly looks more like your typical uniform, but with a plastic layer or membrane inside the garment to keep you dry.
About twenty years ago we were issued with some 'decent' heavy duty orange pvc coats with welded seams and over leggings as a trial. I loved wearing these, but in general my co-workers found them to be too hot and uncofortable unless it was winter and somewhat cumbersome to wear for any length of time and soon handed them back in. I reluctantly went along and voiced my diasproval- but sneaked my gear home and my interests in rainwear began. Sadly I was also just 17 then and despite my gear lasting I soon grew out of them and by my mid twenties I'd thrown them away. It was good gear though. I used to wear them outside in the wintertime alot and non of my neighbours or friends ever batted an eyelid or make any negative remarks. Our modern expensive outdoor gear with its fancy Gortex and modern materials just doesn't come close.
