Am I the only one wearing plastic rainwear out and about?

I would like to wear plastic rainwear more often (especially if its dry) but I just don't feel comfortable or confident enough to do so, especially with some of the more girly styles.

I do wear my yellow Topshop mac on dry days though and nobody gives it a second look; it's quite unisex looking.

Yes, I've been wearing my shiny black pvc macs a lot recently here in cloudy Kingston and Wandsworth this week.
Had a few very nice compliments, from young and older people. Including a gang of lads who walked passed me and said : 'Cool coat mate !'.
A group of female students shouted : 'We love your mac' ! One guy guy, riding his bicycle, slowed down next to me, smiled and said: 'Very impressive. I like it !' In each case I usually say something like : Thankyou. I love wearing it. Or I've always loved shiny pvc mackintoshes. Some times they ask where I bought it or it's good to be a bit different or daring.
Glad I wear it often and proves the good ol' British public like shiny plastic rainwear.
Hope everybody else has been wearing theirs recently, whenever they can ?

Hi Stephie !
I usually wear trenchcoat style macs in shiny black pvc when i'm up in the city or in town. They seem to be very acceptable to the general public now, more than ever before.
I've just ordered a single breasted mac from PVC U LIKE, also in shiny black. Mainly for the summer months as their quicker to put on and take off. Think I might be a bit more daring soon and order something in blue or green, maybe in a different style. I've also got some of those heavy ex Royal Navy PVC raincoats which people seem to like. They smell incredible !

It often, pleasantly surprises me how much the public seem to open up to you about about their fondness to own and wear a shiny mac when they see someone else wearing one. It's a shame if they dont take the opportunity. They dont know what they're missing. I cant imagine a life now, without shiny PVC mackintoshes in it.

Hello Stephie,
I normally wear my SBR trenchcoat not just when it rains but also it is so windproof and warm.

I really love to wear a thick PVC mackintosh whenever I can and although when I started wearing them outside I used to imagine people would look or say something derogatory, in reality they never did.

In fact I had quite a few positive comments made normally by students who thought I was some type of gothic figure or older / middle aged women who said it was nice to see someone wearing proper raincoats.

Like macklovin, I have two or three ex Royal Navy mackintoshes, two single breasted, but my favourite is the double breasted really shiny one I have which is so heavy and squeaks whenever the glossy surface moves. I normally always wear a souwester to match my raincoats whenever possible also.

When it is raining, people don't actually care what you are wearing I have realised - they are far too concerned with themselves these days.

I wore mine the other day while delivering a load. It was a little drizzly out and no one stared or made any comments. Rukkacrazy, I wish I were that brave. I'd love to wear my raincoat in every weather.

Hence why you are called " rukkacrazy" I guess

Wear macs in hot or cold weather - as long as it is raining
