*sigh* I am absolutely fed-up with meddling do-gooders trying to tell everyone how to run their lives ... maybe they mean well - at least to their often perverted way of thinking - but what about everybody else?

The Westboro Baptist Church is probably the best known example of an organisation attempting to inflict their warped ideogy on absolutely everybody else. In the Philippines, the American-based highly religious IJC (International Justice Commission) NGO group is attempting to close down girlie bars in Angeles City in the Philippines, but they totally ignore the child-trafficking going on in Thailand because it's apparently all too hard & dangerous for them!!

I am sure that if PVC was such a nasty material then a score of people who wore them in the sixties and would now be about 60 - 70 years old would have made the news as being affected !

What is good for you this week will kill you next week it seems.

With all the harmful UV rays when we want to get a nice tan, next someone will claim to be the owner of a list of harmful industrial toxins that have mixed themselves up in the rain cycle and we have to protect ourselves by wearing HazChem suits....probably made out of PVC ?

That must be the reason why not many females are wearing PVC raingear, ...They must have known all the time !

Well, bad News for all this Groups: Life is always dangerous to life, and always ends with death...
What are PVC-free products? For Rainwear it is Polyurethane. I'm sure comming Generations will find it to be dangerous too.

These kind of deranged idiots can only have any kind of impact if people listen to them, we all know they are full of crap but sadly the world is also full of mindless sheep who just follow the crowd, let's hope this lot don't turn into shepherds!

I think this article is being read wrongly. It is specifically saying that there are potential dangers to very young children from wearing raincoats marketed for them which have garish designs (e.g. cartoon characters) on them. This is possibly true, because (a) young children have a tendency to put everything in their mouths and (b) as their brains are not yet developed. they are more susceptible to such dangers. Even so, we are not told whether the risk is great or infinitesimal (less than a decimal).
I therefore can't see that we need to get excited about it. After all, at least 999 out of every 1000 people who don't wear raincoats die before they are 95, and it is dangerous to wear pvc when there is a 'z' in the month. All very true, but what does it prove?

Hi Paul

Can you send me the link, doesn't seem to work through the forum?

I suspect its the usual do gooders speeling crap about how harmful PVC is which has been around us for the last 60 years with no ill effects!

Pvc can be dangerous!
1) you can suffocate if you put it over your face!
2) You can choke if you eat it!
3) you can die of the fumes if you burn it!

But all these are misuses!

What's wrong with wearing HazChem suits, lol? That's my MO. I read that the phthlates may affect hormones, so that maybe the case? I had this thought as Briella Jaden, after riding in a hot car from Tampa to Atlanta, jumped into an unlined North chemical suit, taped up for at least an hour, for a shoot.
